AES a division of Lennox, was established in 1988 and is one of the largest manufacturers of roof curbs and drop box diffuser systems in the nation.  We have recently expanded our capabilities as a single source supplier by adding a Mechanical Services Division as well as becoming a Misc. Steel manufacturer.  These new services will reduce construction costs and eliminate coordination with multiple suppliers and subcontractors.  Our focus will be to enhance the services provided to our General Contractor network nationwide.  AES has 4 different fabrication facility locations nationwide to assist our customers and reduce their freight cost and shipment lead times.


The Plant Operations Manager at our Lennox AES facility in Wheeling, West Virginia plays a key leadership role in overseeing daily manufacturing operations. This role drives excellence in safety, staffing, quality, productivity, and cost control while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Ideal candidates are hands-on, people-focused leaders with strong manufacturing experience and the ability to partner effectively across departments to achieve shared goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership for plant operations, including manufacturing, facility maintenance, and support functions.
  • Oversee production supervisors and ensure effective management of day-to-day plant activities.
  • Develop and execute strategies to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency while reducing costs.
  • Lead and manage plant P&L, budgets, and capital expenditures.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, health, and environmental regulations; champion a culture of safety across the facility.
  • Conduct regular Gemba walks and lead plant-wide safety meetings to ensure accountability, employee engagement, and a proactive safety culture.
  • Implement lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes.
  • Oversee facility maintenance programs, including preventive and predictive maintenance, to minimize downtime.
  • Partner with Quality, Supply Chain, and Engineering to ensure product quality, on-time delivery, and operational excellence.
  • Drive employee engagement, training, and leadership development within the plant workforce.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic planning, long-term capacity expansion, and capital projects.
  • Monitor KPIs and operational metrics to track progress, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or related field;
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing operations, including facility oversight.
  • Proven track record of managing plant P&L, budgets, and financial performance.
  • Strong background in lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Experience in managing capital projects and facility upgrades is a plus.
  • HVAC industry is preferred but not required.

Other Work Requirements

  • This is an on-site role based in Wheeling, West Virginia (This position is 100% onsite)

Compensation: This is a salaried exempt role. The starting salary range for this role and market is between $97,600 - $128,100 annually. Factors that may affect starting salary include geography/market and the skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. Employees in this role are also eligible for an annual bonus in accordance with the terms of the Company’s applicable plan. Employees in this role are not eligible for overtime.

Depending on date of hire, and subject to applicable eligibility requirements, new employees in this role also receive up to: 12 days paid time off, 2 paid well-being days, 1 paid volunteer day, 12 paid holidays, and 3 floating holidays per year.
