Job description

Plant Operations Supervisor

This position will supervise the activities of the Plant Operations Department and approved contractors using the appropriate management tools and in compliance with organization policies and procedures. To assist the Plant Operations Director and department staff in any project that may be required. Performs and completes assigned Scheduled Maintenance Work Orders (PMโ€™s), Routine and Emergency Work Orders in allotted and timely manner. Under general direction, to perform a variety of skilled work in the operation, maintenance and repair of boiler, heating, air conditioning, ventilating, lighting, power, water, water treatment, and other mechanical systems normally found in a Hospital; may instruct or lead other technicians; may instruct or lead contract workers; and do other related work. Provides Security related duties M-F during daylight hours. Maintains cooperative work relationship with others. Assist in the โ€œOn Callโ€ rotation and respond to emergency repairs. Comply with all Hospital training and safety requirements. Ensure that the requirements of EPA Section 608 are met.

Qualifications
  • Education/License/Certification:
    • An Operating Engineerโ€™s license is preferred
    • High School Graduate or GED equivalent, 18+ years old & a valid Louisiana driverโ€™s license
    • An EPA Section 608 Refrigeration Universal Certificate or Electrical Certification preferred
  • Training, Experience & Job Knowledge:
    • Minimum 5 yearsโ€™ experience in a healthcare maintenance or plant operations setting, performing duties which included the operation, maintenance and repair of boiler, heating, refrigeration, ventilation and power equipment including the operation and maintenance of air conditioning systems involving the use of automatic controls. Residential and light commercial construction or maintenance experience does not apply.
    • Minimum 5 years HVAC experience at Journeyman level.
    • Knowledge of: Boilers and auxiliary boilerroom equipment; heating, lighting, ventilating, air conditioning, power, refrigeration, building electric and pneumatic controls, water and sewer systems, water treatment and other mechanical or electrical equipment; the methods, tools, materials, and equipment used in the operation, maintenance and repair of such equipment.
    • A working knowledge of the Joint Commission requirements, National Fire Protection Association requirements, & knowledge of EPA Section 608 Refrigeration Regulations
    • A working Knowledge of the Building and Mechanical codes as adopted by the City of New Iberia and Iberia Parish
Principal Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities
  • Supervise the activities of the Plant Operations Department and approved contractors using the appropriate management tools and in compliance with organization policies and procedures.
  • Assist Plant Operations Director and supervise department staff in any project that may be required.
  • Provide supervision, assistance and ensure that Plant Operations staff and approved contractors perform and complete assigned Scheduled Maintenance Work Orders (PMโ€™s), Routine and Emergency Work Orders in allotted and timely manner.
  • Supervise and assist in the performance of a variety of skilled work in the operation, maintenance and repair of boiler, heating, air conditioning, ventilating, lighting, power, water, water treatment, and other mechanical systems normally found in a Hospital; instruction lead other technicians; instruction or lead contract workers; and do other related work.
  • Provide security related duties M-F during daylight hours.
  • Assist in the โ€œOn Callโ€ rotation and respond to emergency repairs.

Work Hours: Full Time, M-F to include various on call hours.
