Job description

Job Summary

The Nursery Manager/Plant Procurement Manager will serve as the primary liaison between Let It Grow and plant nurseries, ensuring the highest quality plant materials for our projects. This role involves sourcing vendors, negotiating pricing, and providing expert feedback to estimators and project teams to support accurate bids and successful installations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the main point of contact for nurseries and plant suppliers, fostering strong relationships and negotiating favorable terms.
  • Evaluate plant quality, availability, and suitability for project specifications and environmental conditions.
  • Source new vendors and evaluate supplier capabilities to ensure competitive pricing and quality standards.
  • Negotiate pricing and contract terms with vendors to optimize cost efficiency while maintaining quality.
  • Provide accurate and timely plant pricing information to estimators for bid preparation.
  • Manage plant inventory and coordinate logistics, including scheduling deliveries and ensuring timely availability of materials for projects.
  • Inspect plant materials upon delivery and ensure compliance with project standards.
  • Stay informed on plant trends, seasonal availability, and cost fluctuations to optimize procurement strategies.
  • Maintain detailed records of plant sourcing, pricing, and supplier performance.
  • Work closely with estimators, project managers, and field teams to align plant selections with design intent and budget.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Horticulture, Plant Science, Landscape Industries, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in horticulture, landscaping, or related field.
  • Proven experience in vendor sourcing and pricing negotiation.
  • Strong knowledge of plant species, care requirements, and regional growing conditions.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.

Physical Requirements & Work Conditions

  • Requires ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work outdoors occasionally for plant inspections.
  • Must be comfortable working in varying weather conditions and performing physical tasks related to plant.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
