RESPONSIBILITIES

Health & Safety

  • Ensure that a plant wide safety program is in place and that all employees are carrying out their responsibilities as described
  • Participate in accident and incident investigations and corrective actions are taken to prevent hazardous conditions and/or behaviors
  • Ensure that there is an established safety program and that all safety rules, policies and procedures are adhered to

Business Development & Operational Strategy

  • Provide oversight and strategic direction to meet organizational objectives and ensure the fiscal health of the business unit.
  • Develop business strategies to support the operational functions and ensure profitability.
  • Understand marketplace, competition and knowledge of existing and prospective customers.
  • Set, monitor and align business goals through the use Key Performance Indicators
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders and project teams in the implementation of optimization projects specific to your unit

People Management

  • Development of an employee-oriented culture that emphasizes safety, quality, continuous improvement, retention, employee development and high performance.
  • Create a workplace culture that is consistent with the organizations vision and values.
  • Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members that allows for differing ideas and concepts.
  • Display exemplary leadership to support a team of direct reports comprised of Supervisory and Management staff, and all other office and plant personnel
  • Conduct formal and informal performance feedback sessions

General Plant Administration & Analysis Functions:  

  • Ensure that sufficient employee time, supervisor support, and funds are budgeted for safety equipment, tools and training.
  • Monitor inventory
  • Champion cost control initiatives, including but not limited to Overtime, direct labor, fixed and variable costs
  • Manage Capital expenditures
  • Maintain and analyze operational reports to identify gaps/ operational needs

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, or Operations preferred
  • A combination of experience and education will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing leadership role. 
  • Prior experience in the paper industry.
  • Experienced with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
