Job description

THE ROLE

The Plant Manager will oversee daily operations of the manufacturing, facilities and maintenance departments at Grandstand. The Plant Managerโ€™s main function is to ensure efficient and timely production of print operations; and oversee the facility and maintenance of the building, equipment and grounds.

  • Hire, train, guide and develop staff within direct supervision. Create and hold staff accountable for performance objectives.
  • Provide positive and effective coaching and leadership to staff.
  • Develop and implement personnel growth opportunities and resolve employee issues through problem resolution or performance improvement plans.
  • Develop and maintain training programs to ensure all personnel have the necessary skills to perform their duties safely and productively.
  • Initiate, educate, coordinate and enforce SOPs; monitor and enforce safety and workplace policies and procedures.
  • Monitor budgets and communicate progress to Management.
  • Attend and participate in meetings.
  • Provide feedback to management concerning production capacity, staffing skillset and equipment needs.

Production

  • Accomplish production goals by communicating clear job expectations; plan, monitor, coach, counsel and evaluate performance and results within direct supervison.
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with Production Leads to ensure staff produce product to Grandstandโ€™s quality standards; make judgment calls to continue or stop production based on quality of decoration.
  • Collaborate with Production Leads on daily production activities, delegate assignments and maintain material/workflow throughout production staff.
  • Manage workflow of orders that have encountered issues upon release to production, ensuring orders experiencing quality, inventory or art issues are not delayed and are properly communicated to relevant staff.
  • Continuously evaluate and modify the plant layout and material workflow for increased throughput and productivity and make recommendations to management.
  • Monitor and enforce work start, break and stop times.

Facility and Maintenance

  • Direct facility maintenance projects and communications with vendors.
  • Maintain and enhance maintenance programs, parts inventories and repair projects.
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized maintenance shop.
  • Manage program for the purchase, security and use of tools and maintenance supplies.
  • Review bids for facility projects with Management before implementation.
  • Respond timely to emergency situations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Management.

THE ESSENTIALS

  • High school diploma or GED required. Additional education or technical training a plus.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of management experience in a production facility.
  • Efficiently and effectively lead a team of employees and achieve high standards of performance.
  • Knowledge of screen-print operations preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics required.
  • Ability to understand multifaceted written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, present information, and respond to questions in verbal and written format, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to organize, multi-task, plan and set priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work independently and be highly motivated.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to exhibit strong interpersonal communication skills and establish and maintain effective working relationship across all levels of Grandstand.
  • Ability to use a computer proficiently to document information, create reports, track budgets, and communicate internally and externally.
  • Experience with vendor coordination and management.
  • Be dependable and prompt.
  • Must have a valid drivers license and proof of automobile insurance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Level 3: Medium Work
  • Occasionally exerts 20-50 pounds of force; frequently exerts 10-25 pounds of force; constantly exerts greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force.
  • Must be able to safely complete 50-pound PILE test or greater.
  • Ability to occasionally lift/lower 15-48 pounds, carry 20-48 pounds, push/pull (force exerted) 48-68 pounds.
  • Ability to perform physical activities that require frequent walking and standing, occasional sitting, change of position, reaching (extended hands/arms), reach across mid-line, fingering (pinch/pick), feeling (perceive attributes of objects), crouching/squatting (bend legs/spine), crawling, balancing, stooping (bend at waist), kneeling, stairs, ramp, ladder, arm/hand, leg/foot, simple grasp (grasp lightly), firm grasp (use pressure/force) and fine manipulation.
  • Ability to lift/lower/carry cases of glassware, pallets, lifting above shoulder height.
  • Ability to perceive small details on product at armโ€™s length distance.
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 35 pounds consistently with heavier weight necessary at times.
  • Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of fingers, arms, legs and moving your whole body such as pushing, pulling, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling various materials.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift and scissor-lift.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The Plant Manager may work in uncomfortably hot or cold environments, in uncomfortable and cramped positions, or on ladders.
  • Interaction with staff and customers.
