Planning Specialist
About the Role
The Planning Specialist is responsible for coordinating planning activities for customer-specific programs and catalog items to support production efficiency, inventory accuracy, and on-time delivery. This role partners cross-functionally with Forecasting, Procurement, Manufacturing, Customer Service, Shipping, Marketing, and Sales to monitor program status, align capacity and material availability, resolve planning issues, and ensure customer and business needs are met.
How You Will Make an Impact
  • Plan custom programs and catalog items within the MRP system to support customer demand, production requirements, and inventory objectives.
  • Lead weekly cross-functional status meetings with Marketing, Sales, and Customer Service to review custom program progress, risks, and timing updates.
  • Track finished goods requirements and proactively follow up with internal partners to help ensure items are completed on time.
  • Serve as the primary planning contact for assigned accounts and programs, providing timely responses to questions and status update requests.
  • Work closely with Production Planners to evaluate expedite requests, resolve scheduling constraints, and support timely customer delivery.
  • Collaborate with the Bill of Material team to support accurate item setup, completion requirements, and readiness for production planning.
  • Coordinate with Marketing to confirm appropriate capacity is reserved for custom programs and customer commitments.
  • Partner with Forecasting to understand demand changes and adjust production plans accordingly.
  • Maintain strong communication with Customer Service and Shipping to support order visibility, shipment readiness, and issue resolution.
  • Notify Procurement of expedite needs or reduced lead times related to custom programs and partner on material availability concerns.

The Essentials:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, Manufacturing, or related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 2+ years of production planning and scheduling experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy in planning, documentation, and follow-through.
  • Ability to plan and manage custom programs and catalog items using ERP/MRP systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional communication and provide clear, timely status updates to internal stakeholders.
  • Proven ownership and follow-through in tracking requirements, resolving issues, and supporting on-time completion of finished goods.
