What Your Day Will Look Like:

Consor Engineers is seeking a strategic Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to lead enterprise-wide financial planning, forecasting, and performance analysis. This role will serve as a key business partner to executive leadership, driving insights that inform decision-making, optimize profitability, and support scalable growth in a project-based professional services environment.

The Director of FP&A will oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling processes. This individual will play a critical role in developing forward-looking insights tied to utilization, project performance, backlog, and revenue forecasting.The ideal candidate is an initiative-taking finance leader with strong analytical capabilities, deep understanding of services-based revenue models, and experience leveraging modern financial systems and AI-enabled tools to improve forecasting accuracy and efficiency.

This is a high-impact, highly visible role with the opportunity to influence strategic decisions, enhance financial processes, and shape how the organization plans for growth and success.

This can be a fully remote position for candiates in the Eastern Time Zone

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the company-wide annual budgeting process, quarterly forecasts, and long-range financial planning.
  • Develop and maintain dynamic financial models utilizing AI-enabled platforms and techniques to support strategic initiatives, scenario planning, and resource allocation.
  • Analyze financial performance, including revenue, margins, utilization, and project profitability, to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Partner with business leaders to provide actionable insights and recommendations to drive operational and financial performance.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to a professional services business (e.g., utilization, backlog, multiplier, realization rates).
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing financial insights to guide business decisions and strategic initiatives.
  • Support pricing strategies, contract structuring, and margin optimization across projects and clients.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Accounting, and Business Unit Leaders to align financial plans with operational goals.
  • Support M&A activities, including financial modeling, due diligence, and post-acquisition integration planning.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly management reporting packages, including variance analysis and executive dashboards.
  • Translate complex financial data into clear, concise insights for both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Drive enhancements in reporting capabilities, including real-time dashboards and self-service analytics.
  • Leverage financial systems such as Deltek (Vision/Vantagepoint) and BI tools to enhance planning and reporting capabilities.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and AI-driven tools to enhance forecasting, management reporting, and budgeting accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ensure integrity and consistency of financial data across systems and reports.
  • Partner with Accounting to align actuals, forecasts, and reporting structures.
  • Establish clear goals, priorities, and performance expectations.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead or support enterprise initiatives such as system implementations, process redesigns, and financial transformation efforts.
  • Enhance financial planning processes to support scalability and organizational growth.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
    • MBA, CPA, or CFA (preferred)
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, including leadership experience.
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Financial planning, forecasting, and modeling
    • Project-based revenue recognition and profitability analysis
    • KPI development in a professional services environment
  • Experience in professional services, engineering, consulting, or project-based industries.
  • Proven experience partnering with senior leadership and influencing strategic decisions.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to translate data into insights.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial modeling skills
  • Experience with ERP systems and reporting tools; Deltek Vision or Vantagepoint (preferred)
  • Experience with business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
  • Familiarity with AI tools, advanced analytics, or automation in finance (strongly preferred)
  • Experience supporting M&A transactions and integrations (strongly preferred)
  • Persuasive communication and presentation skills with the ability to simplify complex information.
  • Knowledge of government contracting / FAR compliance (preferred)
  • While performing the duties of this job, physical demands of the employee may include constantly sitting, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, and occasional standing, moving, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, and coordination. This job will rarely require lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 35 lbs.
