Position: ย WonderCare Site Assistants 2026-2027 (Posting Number 2627-3772)ย 
Location:ย Elementary Schools
Start Date: As Needed
We strongly welcome candidates with the following qualifications:ย 





  • Be at least 18 years of age AND possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children under 13 years of age, preferably in an organized setting
  • First Aid/ CPR/ AED trained
  • Possess knowledge of age appropriate activities and expectations of children ages 5-12.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Possess an understanding of WCSD, its goals, and its mission.
  • Possess knowledge of various resources for programming ideas and the skills to utilize that information in assisting daily activities.

Physical Requirements:

  • ย Must be able to supervise children by sight and sound at all times.
  • Must be able to move quickly to react to safety issues in the setting (i.e. climbing or aggressive behavior).


ย Essential Responsibilities:

Planning

  • Assist in the planning of daily activities and preparation of site set up
  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of snacks.
  • Must be flexible and willing to adjust to change.
  • Maintain a safe environment for all children in the program.

ย Program Standardsย 

  • Assist the Site Coordinator in maintaining records and preparing reports.
  • Must have knowledge of and implement WonderCare Quality Standards.
  • Know the emergency procedures, rules, and regulations.

Activity Periodย 

  • Activity leadership, including interaction with individual children and small groups.
  • Managing parent pickups, parent communication and ensuring the student dismissal process is safe, controlled, and efficient.
  • Display a positive attitude.
  • Adhere to the dress code policy.
  • Perform all duties as assigned.
  • Must remain calm, objective, and respectful in potentially stressful situations( i.e crying upset child, parent, or staff).


Position Summary:

Under the general direction of the Site Coordinator, the Assistant is responsible for on-site activity leadership and working directly with children.ย  Staff members must be qualified by training and experience to carry out their respective functions in the administration, operation, and maintenance of the Before and After School program.
