Job description

Position: Operations Specialist

Reports to: Planer Supervisor

Non-Exempt Hourly

Primary Function and Responsibilities:

  • Identify lumber going into Planer, sorter, stacker, packager and jag station
  • Sort lumber according to grade quality and size, place lumber that matches the required dimensions onto carts or in designated areas.
  • Safely and accurately organize and stack lumber.
  • Straighten lumber and safely clear jammed material at machine centers.
  • Adhere to health and safety protocols during all work operations.
  • Clean areas around and under equipment using brooms, blowers, shovels, and other equipment as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and abide by all safety regulations and requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical strength, stamina, and dexterity are essential for this role.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and maneuver heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) for extended periods of time.
  • Must be comfortable wearing PPE (gloves, goggles/face shield, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, and any other required safety equipment) for the duration of the shift.
  • Training under experienced personnel or planer technicians.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Multitask and work in a team environment.
