Job description

The Planer Supervisor will be responsible for all aspects of safety and production of the planer mill, dry kilns, and shipping department. This role will be a member of the leadership team at the mill.

West Fraser is currently looking for individuals who are interested in a full-time, long-term career in a modern mill environment.

The successful candidate should be highly skilled and motivated.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Achieving production goals with the highest regard and adherence to employee safety
  • Managing and motivating the hourly workforce in the assigned areas
  • Effective evaluation and continuous improvement of processes

Required skills you will need:

  • At least 1 year of prior experience as a supervisor or lead
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Demonstrative safety leadership
  • Excellent team-building and motivational skills
  • Understanding of accounting and financial metrics for a mill operation
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office

Preferred skills that will make you stand out:

  • Understands and demonstrates quality-control processes
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Lumber grading certification
  • Wood products experience with any of the following: Planning, Sawmilling, Drying
