Job description

Metals USA is seeking a Packager for our Liberty, MO location. Metals USA is a leading metals processor/distributor in North America, providing a wide range of carbon steel products and services. Metals USA is a solid, growth-oriented company servicing the defense, commercial construction, and road construction and fabrication industries. The Packer under general supervision performs duties such as receiving, placing/returning items into stock inventory locations.

Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Package bundles by placing metal strapping around the width and length of the material
  • Properly place paper corner protectors neatly to part specifications, to protect the customers' product
  • Use packaging equipment to tighten the metal strapping around bundles
  • Check parts to ensure correct size was produced
  • Responsible for the use of material handling equipment such as cranes, forklifts, and side loaders.
  • Accurately move and stock products, materials, and various supplies into and out of designated storage areas.
  • Interpret and anticipate material requirement needs at work centers
  • Ensure that all inventory is maintained in a neat and organized condition and that the warehouse area remains clean and orderly
  • Can identify defects and package the designated items
  • Any other duties assigned by Management.

  • Basic Mathematics skills
  • Ability to read and write English Language
  • Ability to understand and use Safety Rules and Procedures as well as OSHA standards and regulations
  • Must exercise a reasonable degree of judgment and possess the ability to recognize appropriate company policies that apply in each situation and follow them
  • Must be able to read measuring tape and caliper
  • Ability to lift/carry 50 lbs.

  • Must have Forklift and overhead crane experience
