Job description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in the development of project quality control standards, processes, and tools used in the engineering, construction, and commissioning of battery energy storage systems.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to address technical issues and ensure the timely execution of project activities, including design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Review and analyze engineering plan sets, equipment submittals, and technical specifications to ensure compliance with contractual requirements, regulatory codes, and Pivot quality standards.
  • Identify lessons learned and value engineering opportunities from construction projects.
  • Coordinate with internal project management teams to support project diligence activities.
  • Review and respond to contractor Requests for Information (RFI) with urgency and professionalism.
  • Collaborate with Owner's Engineers and Independent Engineers to maintain strong working relationships and address project-related challenges.
  • Conduct on-site and remote inspections on active construction sites and operational assets to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and quality control standards.
  • Assist Pivot's Operations and Maintenance team in reviewing operational asset production data and troubleshooting issues, as needed.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
  • 2+ years of experience in community-scale solar PV and energy storage engineering, construction, and commissioning.
  • Four-year engineering degree from an ABET-accredited university; electrical, mechanical, or energy focus.
  • Extensive knowledge of battery energy storage system design and commissioning as well as National Electric Code, International Fire Code, and other relevant building codes.
  • Knowledge of AC and DC electrical design and equipment.
  • Knowledge of utility distribution requirements, equipment, and design.
  • Working knowledge of PVsyst and system performance analysis.
  • Knowledge of solar and electrical commissioning and testing standards and techniques. Especially the International Electrical Testing Association's Standard for Acceptance Testing Specifications.
  • Strong working knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing programs.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with an aptitude for building trust and rapport in a professional manner.
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and tasks.
PREFERRED COMPETENCIES
  • E.I.T. certification.
  • NABCEP PV Installation Professional, PV System Inspector, or PV Commissioning & Maintenance Specialist Certification.
  • Extensive knowledge of energy storage project construction means and methods.
  • Experience reviewing EPC contracts for deliverables and technical requirements.
  • Working knowledge of Procore and Smartsheet.
