The ideal Pile Driver is responsible for operating machinery that hammers piles into the ground to support building foundations, bridges, piers, etc., and reviews building plans, ensuring pilings are installed accurately.

Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Operate Pile Driver to drive pilings for retaining walls, bulkheads, foundations, structures, etc.
  • Judge distance and position piling leads
  • Move construction materials, earth, and other heavy materials to construction sites.
  • Clear land, dig trenches prepare worksite.
  • Oil and service machine as needed.
  • Perform pre-operational checks on equipment. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Perform work in a marine environment.
  • Work from heights (pile drivers will typically be required to climb pile driving leads or work out of a manlift wearing fall protection)
  • Physically, workers must be able to see well (naturally or with correction)
  • Climb and/or maintain balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Reach for handle and manipulate objects.
  • Rigging and signaling certification preferred

Education and Experience:

  • 2-5 years of experience as a pile driver
  • Ability to acquire and maintain base access.
  • HS Diploma or GED Equivalent

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
  • Exposure to construction and marine site dangers.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
  • Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
  • Ability to respond quickly to sounds and handle noisy environments
  • Able to traverse all areas of the jobsite in all types of weather; this may require walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
