About The Opportunity
Chelsea Piers is hiring an Facilities Operations Lead to join our talented operations team at our newest youth swim facility in Chelsea, Manhattan. In this role, you will be responsible for the swim facility's cleanliness and maintenance.
The responsibilities and duties described here are representative of those an employee must perform. This is not a comprehensive list, and other duties may be assigned.
Responsibilities
Facility Housekeeping & Maintenance
• Conduct daily maintenance and housekeeping duties
• Maintain an exceptionally clean, safe, and well-functioning facility at all times.
• Conduct daily walkthroughs to identify and address safety, cleanliness, and operational issues.
• Serve as the first point of escalation for facility emergencies and execute emergency protocols.
• Troubleshoot common facility and technical issues in real time (electrical, HVAC/boiler alerts, elevators, lighting, etc.).
• Coordinate and communicate repair needs with the Aquatics Manager.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
• Schedule and oversee deep cleaning and special maintenance projects.
• Other set-up and operations duties as assigned
Housekeeping Team Leadership
• Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate Housekeeping Associates.
• Create and post bi-weekly schedules; manage coverage, sick calls, and opening/closing duties.
• Assist with weekly payroll
• Supervise daily operations, providing coaching, feedback, and corrective training as needed.
• Address and resolve member or staff concerns related to cleanliness, behavior, or facility issues.
• Lead or assist with regular housekeeping team meetings.
• Communicate effectively with staff and cross-functional teams via Microsoft Teams.
Operations & Inventory Management
• Track, order, and manage cleaning, locker room, and towel inventory using approved vendors.
• Maintain organized storage areas and consistently stocked supplies.
• Partner with the Aquatics Manager to manage vendor services and control labor and supply costs within budget.
• Ensure that all public areas (entrances, sidewalks, stairwells, elevators, lobby) are clean, safe, and welcoming.
• Assist with equipment ordering
Other duties as assigned.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• OSHA 10 Certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days.
• Prior supervisory or management experience preferred.
• Experience in aquatics, hospitality, or child-focused environments is a plus.
• Basic maintenance, troubleshooting, and cleaning equipment experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital communication tools.
• Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to multitask, problem-solve, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexible availability, including varied shifts and potential overtime.
• Positive, service-oriented attitude and strong team-player mindset.
• Ability to lift 50-65 lbs.
