The Opportunity:
Chelsea Piers has proven its commitment to world-class fitness with its 150,000 square-foot flagship club in Chelsea and a 52,000 square-foot stand-alone club in Downtown Brooklyn. Chelsea Piers Fitness is opening its second stand-alone club in Prospect Heights (Spring of 2023) and its third club in the Flatiron District (Summer of 2024).
Our clubs feature study-quality fitness programming, comprehensive personal training, indoor swimming pools, recreational and competitive sports clubs, communal work and social spaces, artisanal food offerings and a year-round calendar of social and cultural events that reflect the ethos of the neighborhoods they serve.
Chelsea Piers Fitness is thrilled to seek a Housekeeping I Associate to join our team. This is an opportunity to be a part of an ambitious, high-end fitness business. Housekeeping is essential to achieving our goal of operating a top-rate fitness facility. Chelsea Piers Fitness is looking for motivated, proactive, and experienced individuals to join our dedicated operations team at our flagship location in Chelsea. Our goal is to deliver consistently safe, positive and engaging member experiences.
Role & Responsibilities:
As a Housekeeping I Associate, you will have the responsibility of ensuring that our facility meets our high standards of cleanliness. At Chelsea Piers Fitness, we are dedicated to creating beautiful spaces that inspire a sense of belonging and connection. Your attention to detail, cleanliness, & safety is key to upholding our commitment to our members. Each detail adds to a member's experience, and your efforts can ensure that our members have safe, positive, and engaging experiences.
The responsibilities and duties described here are representative of those an employee must perform. This is not a comprehensive list and other duties may be assigned.
Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that the club and exercise equipment are clean and well maintained while providing excellent customer service to all members and guests
  • Complete housekeeping tasks such as cleaning widows, dusting, moping, sweeping, garbage removal, polish stainless steel, etc.
  • Ensure clean folded towels are available at all times around the facility and in locker rooms
  • Maintain a clean locker room including showers, toilets, sinks, steam room, sauna, lockers, and vanity areas
  • Regularly stock housekeeping supplies and help keep well organized storage areas
  • Operate and have full understanding of various chemicals and personal protective equipment
  • Assist with event and party set-up and break-down; including setting up tables, chairs and events equipment
  • Ensure that the sidewalk entrance, stairwells, elevators, and lobby are presentable at all times
  • Notify management team when any rooms or equipment need immediate attention
  • Follows safety standards and practices at all times

Qualifications:
  • Fully vaccinated for COVID-19
  • Must possess a clear understanding of what constitutes a clean and sanitary environment
  • Strong customer service, organization, communication, and multi-tasking abilities
  • Ability to work in a stationery position and move about the club for prolonged periods of time
  • Maintain a neat appearance and have good hygiene
  • Good "people skills" and a "team player" attitude
  • Must be willing to work varied shifts, weekends, holidays, and possible overtime
  • Non-allergenic to chemicals or dust
  • Must be able to lift up to 40-50 pounds
  • Ability to climb 4', 6', and 8' ladders
  • Detail-oriented, punctual, friendly, and motivated

Preferences:
  • Prior housekeeping or janitorial experience
  • Prior experience in a fitness/sports facility
  • Comfortable being in a locker room environment
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus
  • OSHA 10 Certified

Medical and Dental Benefits - As an valued member of the Chelsea Piers team, you will be eligible for Chelsea Piers' robust health and dental insurance plans.
Paid Time Off - Chelsea Piers supports a healthy work/life balance. After sixty (60) days of employment, you will be eligible for fifteen (15) days of paid vacation (prorated in your first year of employment). After five (5) years of service, you will be eligible for twenty (20) paid vacation days per year.
Safe/Sick Time - Chelsea Piers will provide you with 1 (one) hour of safe/sick time for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum accrual of fifty-six (56) hours per calendar year.
401(k) Savings and Retirement Plan - Chelsea Piers wants to support your saving goals. After six months of service, you will be eligible to enroll in Chelsea Piers' 401(k) program. Chelsea Piers will match 8% of your investment up to a maximum of $2,500 per year.
Complimentary Access to Chelsea Piers Fitness - Your health and wellness are important to us. You will receive a complimentary membership to our renowned health clubs, Chelsea Piers Fitness - Chelsea and Brooklyn. We will also provide spouses and domestic partners of full-time employees with membership at 50% off the current rate.
Tuition Assistance - Chelsea Piers supports employees' continuing education. After one (1) year of full-time service, you will be eligible to receive tuition assistance paid by Chelsea Piers in the amount of $750 annually for your first five (5) years of full-time employment and $1,500 annually after five (5) years of full-time employment. The education, instruction, or training must be job-related and/or or have the potential to strengthen your skills/knowledge and enhance your performance.
TransitChek Program - You will be eligible to participate in the TransitChek program, which allows for the pre-tax purchase of MetroCards or TransitChek debit cards that are used to purchase commuting tickets and passes from transit operators throughout the metropolitan area.
Employee Referral Program - We encourage our employees to refer their qualified family and friends to work at Chelsea Piers. For any referral who is hired and stays at Chelsea Piers a minimum of sixty (60) days, you will receive a referral bonus of $500 for full-time hires (minimum 35 hours per week) and $250 for part-time/non-seasonal hires (minimum twenty (20) hours per week).
Upon your start date, you will also receive an Employee Venue Usage sheet detailing other exciting employee perks and discounts provided throughout the complex.
