Position Summary...The Pickup, Delivery, and Returns organization powers the systems, products, and operational capabilities that connect customers and members to seamless omnichannel fulfillment experiences. Our teams enable customers to receive, manage, and return orders with speed, convenience, and reliability across every channel. Technical Operations exists to help shape portfolio strategy, investment priorities, operating models, and execution across a highly complex ecosystem spanning Pickup, Last Mile Delivery, and Returns. The team serves as a strategic partner to Product, Technology, and Business leadership, enabling scalable decision-making and execution across critical customer and operational experiences.
This team owns the operating model for portfolio strategy, product planning, roadmap governance, launch readiness, operational reporting, and cross-functional execution across Pickup, Delivery, and Returns platforms and capabilities. We replace traditional program management overhead with structured data, standardized workflows, and AI-enabled automation that improve visibility, accelerate decision-making, and drive operational excellence.
Our mission is to help product and technology teams make better investment decisions, execute faster, scale smarter, and continuously improve customer, associate, driver, and operational experiences across Pickup, Delivery, and Returns.
As Director, Technology Operations – Pickup, Delivery & Returns, you will lead the portfolio strategy, operating model, and execution framework supporting one of Walmart’s most critical omnichannel product ecosystems.
You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Store Operations, Finance, and Business leaders to shape portfolio strategy, investment priorities, operating models, and scalable execution frameworks across Pickup, Delivery, and Returns.

You will help inform roadmap priorities, investment decisions, operating models, and portfolio performance while enabling teams to execute effectively at scale.What you'll do...
Strategic Technology Operations 
  • Lead the operating model and portfolio management framework supporting Pickup, Delivery, and Returns technology portfolios. 
  • Drive portfolio planning, investment prioritization, roadmap governance, and executive visibility to ensure alignment with customer, operational, and business objectives. 
  • Serve as a strategic partner to Product, Engineering, and Business leaders on portfolio strategy, operating model design, and organizational effectiveness. 
Portfolio & Program Leadership 
  • Lead large-scale cross-functional initiatives across Pickup, Delivery, Returns, Fulfillment, Logistics, and Customer Experience platforms. 
  • Establish governance, success metrics, launch readiness processes, and execution frameworks that enable scalable delivery of strategic product and technology investments. 
  • Identify risks, manage dependencies, and drive alignment across complex, highly matrixed organizations. 
Business Operations & Planning 
  • Lead annual planning, long-range planning, forecasting, and portfolio investment processes across the organization. 
  • Develop business cases, strategic analyses, and performance insights that inform roadmap priorities, resource allocation, and investment decisions. 
  • Translate customer, operational, and business needs into actionable portfolio strategies and execution plans. 
Operational Excellence & Automation 
  • Drive adoption of AI-enabled workflows, automation, and operational tooling that improve decision-making, visibility, and execution efficiency. 
  • Build scalable processes, reporting capabilities, and portfolio management systems that reduce complexity and accelerate organizational performance. 
Leadership & Stakeholder Management

Preferred Qualifications 
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Technology, Engineering, Economics, Finance, Operations, or a related field and 8+ years of experience in technology operations, product strategy, product operations, business operations, management consulting, portfolio management, or large-scale technology organizations..  
  • Experience leading enterprise-scale technology programs within eCommerce, logistics, supply chain, transportation, or delivery operations environments.  
  • Strong expertise in portfolio governance, operational planning, program execution, and organizational transformation.  
  • Experience managing budgets, forecasting, resource planning, and operational financial performance.  
  • Demonstrated success influencing senior leaders and driving alignment across large cross-functional organizations.  
  • Strong analytical and operational problem-solving capabilities with experience managing ambiguity and organizational complexity.  
  • Experience developing business cases, investment recommendations, strategic plans, and executive-level decision frameworks. 
  • Experience supporting product portfolio strategy, operating model design, annual planning, or investment prioritization processes. 
  • Experience in omnichannel retail, eCommerce, fulfillment, logistics, delivery, or returns ecosystems. 
  • Experience implementing operational tooling and workflow automation platforms such as Airtable.  
  • Knowledge of AI-enabled operational workflows and modern product operating models.  
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.
