POSITION SUMMARY:  The YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Pickleball Coach to join our team and support programs in the Greater Wilmington area. The Pickleball Coach is responsible for providing high-quality instruction, skill development, and a positive, engaging experience for all participants. This role includes teaching, coaching, and assisting with clinics and other Pickleball-related activities, while promoting the mission, values, and goals of the YMCA of Southeastern NC. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Individual must be energetic, friendly, possess a can-do attitude, and a willingness to help members learn and play the game of Pickleball
  • Leads the organization and coordination of Pickleball activities and events, as well as any additional support required to deliver Pickleball Activities
  • Provides group and individual Pickleball lessons
  • Promote and coordinate in-house leagues and Pickleball socials
  • Assists with special pickleball events and tournaments
  • Responsible for scheduled hours for Coordination (non-court) assignments, to include: organizing and implementing Ladders/Leagues, helping with tournaments, socials, events, court monitoring
  • Evaluates the success of each activity, event, or outing and identifies opportunities for improvement in the future
  • 1+ years of experience in Pickleball.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Provide excellent verbal communication and customer service to members

  • Enthusiasm, high energy and exceptional human relations and motivational skills

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished orally, in writing, or in diagram form

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to stand, move, and demonstrate pickleball skills for extended periods of time.
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, and set up equipment (up to 25 lbs).
  • Must be able to bend, reach, and move quickly in order to actively engage with participants during instruction and gameplay.

YMCA SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
CPR & First Aid - Must be able to complete and maintain certification in CPR and First Aid; able to assist individuals in need until professional help arrives.

Emergency Response - Ability to quickly identify emergency situations (medical, fire, environmental, etc.) and respond appropriately following established procedures.

Incident Management - Required to report all safety incidents and hazards immediately and accurately to supervisors.

Safe Environment - Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and hazard-free environment for all staff, members, and participants.

Physical Readiness - Must be able to perform physical tasks related to safety, including assisting individuals of various ages and physical abilities.

Compliance - Follow all YMCA safety protocols, OSHA standards, and state/local regulations as applicable. 


Job Title: Pickleball Coach

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Part Time 

Pay Rate: $20 / HOUR

Availability: 2-5 hours per week
