Key Responsibilities

As an Orthopedic Physical Therapist, your daily tasks will include:

  • Conducting comprehensive evaluations to assess patient needs, reviewing pertinent medical history, and performing specialized assessments to formulate effective treatment plans.
  • Communicating evaluation findings and treatment objectives clearly to patients and their families, fostering an inclusive setting that promotes shared goal-setting.
  • Implementing evidence-based treatment protocols that align with patientsโ€™ evaluation results and ongoing health status, ensuring adaptability to the evolving healthcare landscape.
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes, identifying significant changes in conditions that necessitate plan modifications or additional consultations.
  • Documenting patient care activities accurately and timely, including initial evaluations, daily encounter notes, progress summaries, and discharge summaries, producing clear records that reflect patientsโ€™ care trajectories.
  • Managing time effectively to fulfill productivity expectations, maintain an organized schedule, and participate in team meetings and community outreach initiatives.
  • Contributing to departmental goals and objectives while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.
  • Engaging in continuous professional development by pursuing further education, and serving as a clinical instructor to students as appropriate.
  • Advocating for an exceptional patient experience and facilitating access to care by addressing barriers and being involved in relevant initiatives.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily work with a diverse patient population experiencing orthopedic conditions including but not limited to post-surgical rehabilitation, sports injuries, and chronic pain management. Our emphasis on personalized care means you will have the opportunity to implement individualized treatment strategies tailored to each patient's unique needs and clinical presentation.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelorโ€™s degree in Physical Therapy; a Doctorate in Physical Therapy is preferred.
  • A valid state license to practice physical therapy in Virginia as required.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR certification.
Preferred Experience

While prior work experience is not mandatory, candidates with clinical internships or experience in an outpatient orthopedic setting will be at an advantage. Familiarity with modern rehabilitative techniques and treatment protocols is also beneficial.
