Physical Security Officer

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Physical Security Officer to join our team in Herndon VA.

The Physical Security Officer will leverage their strong technical background and knowledge to support the Sponsor's facility accreditation efforts, to include ensuring construction adheres to US Government standards, maintaining physical security governance, and supporting secure area approvals.

This is a hybrid position with the expectation of at least 3 days a week in various offices depending on active project load week to week.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Implementing physical security solutions in support of MANTECH's industrial security program. Supporting access control and issuance of badges for all company personnel.
  • Interpreting and implementing ICD 705 Technical Specifications while collaborating with MANTECH facilities personnel to ensure construction adheres to US Government standards.
  • Ensuring all assigned security projects comply with mandated physical security governance, including ICD-705, the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual, and DoD Information Security policies.
  • Supporting the accreditation and secure area approval process for SCIFs and SAPFs by preparing and reviewing Fixed Facility Checklists, TEMPEST Checklists, and Construction Security Plans.
  • Overseeing the construction of various secure areas, such as SCIFs, Secure Work Areas, DCSA Restricted Areas, and SAPFs, while performing facility inspections to verify adherence to standards.
  • Designing, implementing, programming, and managing Automated Access Control Systems (ACS), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), and Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) systems.
  • Reviewing construction drawings to validate the accuracy of project requirements and providing recommendations on security policies pertaining to the life cycle management of security systems. Analyzing and resolving complex security issues to provide leadership with cost-effective recommendations that satisfy policy requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 2 years of progressively responsible experience in Physical Security.
  • Experience navigating ICD 705 Technical Specifications and the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (32 CFR Part 117).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in planning, integrating, and implementing physical security countermeasures within classified and unclassified environments.
  • Experience in the design and management of ACS, IDS, and CCTV systems, including configuring devices and managing user access rights.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to provide specialized guidance on TEMPEST concepts and requirements.
  • Ability to review construction drawings for secure areas such as SCIFs, SWAs, and SAPFs.
  • Proven capability to analyze and troubleshoot complex security issues while providing program management with policy-compliant solutions.
  • Strong collaborative skills to work across facilities and security teams to drive facility accreditation.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain up to a TS/SCI with Polygraph

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets and office machinery.
  • Medium work requirements include lifting 50lbs, reaching, walking, carrying, and ladder climbing.
  • Ability to travel within and outside of the National Capital Region (NCR) up to 10% a year.
  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
