General Plant Supervisor

Position Overview

We are seeking a General Plant Supervisor to oversee daily 2nd shift production activities in a fast-paced print manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for organizing staff, coordinating workflow, monitoring production needs, and providing daily direction to ensure jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and according to customer expectations.

The General Plant Supervisor will work closely with production teams, management, and internal departments to support quality, scheduling, communication, equipment needs, and overall shift performance. Prior press or print production experience is helpful, but strong supervisory experience, leadership ability, and manufacturing experience are the most important qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide daily leadership and direction for 2nd shift production teams
• Organize and schedule staff to support production and customer needs
• Monitor work assignments and make adjustments as needed to maintain workflow
• Ensure production performance meets internal and external customer expectations
• Act as a mentor and support team development, communication, and accountability
• Promote team building by clarifying goals, strengthening team skills, and supporting employee confidence
• Conduct performance reviews for direct reports
• Coordinate vacation schedules based on customer and departmental needs
• Respond to requests from internal departments, including account management, bindery, prepress, and production teams
• Support timely completion of jobs by maintaining strong communication across departments
• Coordinate necessary equipment maintenance and communicate equipment concerns
• Oversee equipment use and help train staff as needed
• Set a positive example for employees and ensure company policies and procedures are followed
• Maintain a safe, productive, and organized work environment
• Complete additional tasks as assigned by management

Required Experience

• 3+ years of supervisory experience
• 3+ years of training, mentoring, or team development experience
• Experience in manufacturing, production, printing, or a related plant environment
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to lead teams, solve problems, and make decisions in a production setting
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
• Ability to work extended hours when needed
• High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Experience

• Prior experience in press production or print manufacturing
• Experience supervising 2nd shift or multi-shift production teams
• Experience coordinating workflow between production, bindery, prepress, maintenance, and customer-facing departments
• Strong understanding of production schedules, quality expectations, and manufacturing deadlines
• Ability to train employees and support continuous improvement on the production floor

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk on the production floor for extended periods
• Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer as needed
• Ability to occasionally lift and move materials up to 50 lbs

Schedule

• Monday–Friday
• 2nd Shift: 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM
• Full-time position
• Extended hours may be required based on production needs

Prior print or press production experience is a plus, but the company is open to strong manufacturing supervisors who can lead people, manage priorities, and support a high-quality production environment.
