JOB SUMMARY

The Hydraulic Design Engineer is an individual contributor within the QP Hydraulics team, responsible for supporting the design, development, testing, and maintenance of hydraulic products and systems. This role focuses on hands-on engineering execution for existing products, product improvements, and new product development under the guidance of senior engineering staff. The position requires a solid foundation in hydraulic and mechanical design, with experience in CAD modeling, engineering documentation, and product testing. Exposure to electrohydraulic systems and electronic controls is beneficial. The engineer will work closely with manufacturing, purchasing, suppliers, and customers in a collaborative, small-company environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design and development of hydraulic components, assemblies, and systems
  • Assist with new product development and existing product support efforts
  • Create 3D models, detailed drawings, and engineering documentation
  • Participate in design reviews and technical discussions
  • Assist with conceptual design development under senior engineer guidance
  • Support prototype builds, testing, and validation activities
  • Execute laboratory and factory testing and document results
  • Assist in developing test procedures, work instructions, and production documentation
  • Support pilot builds and production launch activities
  • Collaborate with manufacturing on production issues and continuous improvement efforts
  • Work with purchasing and suppliers on component selection and technical questions
  • Communicate with customers to clarify technical requirements and support engineering discussions
  • Identify technical issues and escalate risks as appropriate
  • Support multiple engineering tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Provide general engineering support to the Engineering Division as required


Required Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Solid hydraulic and mechanical aptitude
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Spanish and/or Chinese language skills, preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Desire to learn and grow technically
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (~5%)


Education and Experience

  • Ability to stand, walk, and use hands for extended periods.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and moderate noise levels.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately in noisy environments.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

COMPENSATION: $95,000 - $110,000 annually (final compensation will be determined based on experience).
