Bilingual Office Clerk I

Location: Houston, TX (77015)

Pay Rate: $20.00 – $25.00/hr (depending on experience)

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Full-Time)

Job Type: Temporary / Contract

Position Overview

We are is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Bilingual Office Clerk I to provide administrative and customer service support. This role involves frequent interaction with customers, staff, and vendors, assisting with daily office operations, utility account management, and payment processing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver courteous, professional customer service in person and via phone.

  • Assist customers with water and wastewater service inquiries, billing, account setup, and service requests.

  • Process payments (checks, money orders, credit cards), balance transactions, and prepare bank deposits.

  • Enter and update customer records, documents, and service contracts in District systems.

  • Draft correspondence, proofread documents, and maintain accurate filing systems.

  • Sort, process, and distribute incoming/outgoing mail and packages.

  • Operate standard office machinery (copiers, scanners, printers, multi-line phones).

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Language: Fully bilingual in English and Spanish (required).

  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Experience: Previous office administrative and customer service experience required.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows-based environments.

  • Physical & Driving Requirements: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.

  • Background Check: Must pass a 7-year national criminal background locator and 5-panel drug screen.
