Job description

The Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) at Inova Fairfax Medical is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Fellow to join our team. This position is ideal for Experienced Nurses looking to change specialties *Required to go through & complete the OR Fellowship upon start. Eligible Nurses will qualify for sign-on & relocation bonuses.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to train and support seven CVOR suites, providing care for both adult and pediatric cardiovascular procedures. Our program has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as "High Performing" in heart bypass surgery, aortic valve surgery, and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR).

Work Schedule: Full time, Day Shift

The CVOR is located on the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus within the Inova Heart and Vascular Institute (IHVI) for adult cardiac surgery and Inova Women's and Children's Hospital for pediatric/congenital cardiac surgery. The CVORs are state of the art with Stryker integrated video and a Philips (Single Plane) Hybrid OR with a total of 7 operating rooms serving all cardiac surgery needs including thoracic organ transplant (heart and lung), mechanical circulatory support, structural heart, congenital, and advanced aortic surgery.

Registered Nurse, Fellow Responsibilities:

  • Provide knowledgeable and caring clinical practice and care coordination through an understanding of patient, family, nurse, and healthcare delivery team 
  • Conduct all patient care in a patient and family-centered manner
  • Use an integrated approach toward patient outcomes 
  • Utilize standards, guidelines, and pathways for care delivery
  • Attends and participates in all learning sessions assigned for successful completion of the Registered Nurse (RN) Fellowship
     

Registered Nurse, Fellow Requirements:

  • Requires a minimum of 1year of Registered Nurse clinical experience
  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing or Associate's Degree from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associates Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date
  • Must be RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as an RN
  • Basic Life Support with American Heart Association

Registered Nurse, Fellow Preferred Requirements:

  • 1 year of acute care; Medsurg or Critical care of Registered Nurse clinical experience
