Job Description Summary
As part of the External Affairs team, Enterprise's Philanthropy group generates philanthropic support for Enterprise's affordable housing and community development programs throughout the U.S. Reporting to the AVP, Philanthropy, the Philanthropy Director will be lead fundraising for a portfolio that includes Enterprise's Mid-Atlantic Market and Enterprise Community Development (ECD). The Director will collaborate with program colleagues across Enterprise operating divisions to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward philanthropic support from corporate, foundation, individual and government partners.The Philanthropy Director will lead regional fundraising strategy, funder engagement and stewardship, and cross-functional fundraising collaboration. They will inspire current funders to renew and upgrade giving and will attract new funders by researching foundation and corporate prospects interested in affordable housing (development, preservation, supply, policy) and resident services. They will also help maximize support for work in the region using best and emerging practices to secure varied forms of support including sponsorship and event revenue.
This role will contribute to organization-wide and team-based KPIs by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and ongoing requests, as well as exploring opportunities to add value to our collective fundraising potential.
Job Description
Responsibilities
Develop a deep understanding of Enterprise's mission, strategic plan, Mid-Atlantic market priorities, Enterprise Community Development priorities and national programs to inform our fundraising strategy.
Build confidence and rapport among External Affairs (Policy, Philanthropy, Marketing, Digital and Communications) colleagues, as well as across Enterprise's three divisions to create customized fundraising strategies for new and renewing funders.
Develop fundraising strategy for multiple Enterprise markets and/or programs, working closely with the market/program leaders, program teams, staff accountants and others.
Work with the Director, Individual Giving and Philanthropy team colleagues to identify, cultivate and steward high-net-worth individual (HNWI) prospects, as appropriate.
Identify, research, cultivate and manage relationships with local, regional and national funders prospective funders
Ensure CRM data is kept current and moves management activities are communicated to leadership in a timely manner.
Carefully steward all existing donor relationships to ensure that programmatic objectives are being met on time and on budget; proactively escalate any issues requiring resolution to market/program leader and AVP.
Organize and participate in virtual and in-person meetings, cultivation events, visits and tours with prospects and funders.
Prepare funder correspondence and staff briefings materials for executive leadership and market/program leaders; creating funder collateral for meetings and events; track and manager funder follow-up.
Working with the Grant Writing team, write and submit new and renewal proposals, concept papers, program reports, letters of inquiry, impact reports and stewardship documents in accordance with funder guidelines and deadlines.
With guidance from External Affairs colleagues, devise customized and unique recognition opportunities for funders.
Identify direct engagement opportunities for regional funders and prospects through program activities and events in collaboration with market/program leaders.
Maintain accurate and timely CRM records including pipeline updates, funder communication records, meeting notes and funder contact information.
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree required.
Minimum 6-8 years of fundraising experience including corporate and foundation fundraising, grant writing and funder relationship management.
Track record in cultivating and securing 5- and 6-figure philanthropic gifts.
Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills with knowledge of and proficiency in use of English grammar, punctuation and syntax.
Must be able to write about the big picture and translate complex programmatic information into clear, compelling funder-facing materials.
Ability to exercise initiative gathering and organizing research materials from a variety of sources and quickly comprehend, analyze and synthesize information to accurately translate into grant proposals, reports and other donor-facing materials.
Professional, proactive and resourceful approach with the ability to work independently and as a team player; takes initiative and manages multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
Ability to verbally communicate well and in a professional manner with a variety of audiences.
Strategic, collaborative, detail-oriented and self-motivated, with strong judgement and a solutions-oriented mindset.
Knowledge of the community development and affordable housing industry a plus.
Fully proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM systems required; Salesforce experience preferred.
Ability and willingness to travel regularly within the Baltimore-Washington region and outside of the region up to 10% of the time.

Enterprise offers a comprehensive total rewards package for you and your family. The pay range for this position is$120,000 - $140,000. The salary rangerepresentsthe low and high end of what may be paid for this position. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the pay range, and compensation decisions may be influenced by a variety of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
