Human Genetics Physician Opportunity


The Division of Human Genetics at Cincinnati Children's seeks Staff Physicians to deliver safe and effective medical care to their genetics patients. The successful candidate will be an employee of Cincinnati Children's.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

- Participating in genetics call/consult schedule for general and biochemical genetics, with support from VMP Genetics physician support services for biochemical genetics as needed.

- The call schedule is currently organized in weekly blocks and is estimated to require 1 week of coverage every 5 to 6 weeks. However, this schedule is flexible and may change based on staffing levels.

Outpatient clinics: 4-5 clinics per week when not on service, 0-1 clinic per week when on service. Flexibility due to inpatient duties.

The role is expected to consist of 20% administrative work, 20% inpatient care, and 60% outpatient care, spread across 4 to 5 clinics with an additional 0.5 to 1 day allocated for follow up patient care and notes.

Acuity of patients:

Patients with metabolic conditions may be acutely ill, but they are managed by the Hospitalist service and not admitted under Genetics. Patients with general genetics may have complex presentations with multiple medical concerns but are rarely acutely ill.

Procedures: None, apart from a skin biopsy, which is optional.

The job schedule is as for other attending positions and is primarily 8-5 with a lunch break. Call may involve work after regular hours, on weekends, and on holidays, but often visiting the hospital is not required. If not on call, after-hours, weekend work, and holidays are not typically needed.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

Must have an M.D., D.O., or equivalent medical degree.

Currently, hold an active unrestricted medical license.

Complete appropriate medical credentialing through Cincinnati Children’s Medical Staff Services Office.

Finish all required pre-employment activities (Screening, Background check, badging, and orientation)

Previous clinical experience is required based on the specific needs of the hiring department.

Preferred:

Board-eligible or board-certified in Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, or another specialty

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and CPR Certification.

Nice to have skills: An interest/experience with Genetics patients.
