Job description

We are hiring for either a Molecular Genetics and Cytogenetics Technical Director or Senior Molecular Genetics and Cytogenetics Technical Director, based on experience. The Department of Laboratories at Seattle Children's Hospital is recruiting a PhD, MD or MD/PhD to join our Molecular and Cytogenetics lab. Candidates must be board-eligible or board-certified in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics (LGG), or dual boarded in Clinical Cytogenetics and Genomics and Molecular Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG). Candidates with suitable academic records should jointly apply for an appointment in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the University of Washington.
Our hospital-based lab is an integrated cytogenetics and molecular laboratory, which analyzes constitutional and oncology specimens using a variety of techniques including chromosome analysis, FISH, chromosomal microarray, MLPA, and DNA and RNA sequencing. You should possess strong interpersonal skills and experience with lab operations. You will participate in education of trainees, consult with ordering providers, and present at case conferences and tumor boards. You should develop or continue an academic program and stimulate development of new assays in the Genetics Laboratory at Seattle Children's Hospital and University of Washington.

Required Education and Experience
PhD in clinical laboratory discipline.
Completion of specialty fellowship with relevant board certification (e.g. Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemical Genetics, Laboratory Genetics and Genomics, etc).
Clinical, teaching, and scholarship accomplishments sufficient for an appointment at the rank of Assistant professor at the University of Washington.

Management and administrative experience with increasing responsibility in a clinical laboratory setting.
Pediatric clinical testing and test development experience.
Business planning and strategic development experience.
Compensation Range
$180,884.00 - $312,025.00 per year
Salary Information
This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
