Description
The Department of Pediatrics, at the University of Washington School of Medicine and the Center for Immunity and Immunotherapies (CIIT) in the Seattle Children's Research Institute (SCRI) is recruiting a full time Associate Professor (without tenure by reason of funding) or Professor (without tenure by reason of funding). The position will be commensurate with experience and qualifications and will be on the faculty-scientist pathway. Anticipated start date is Fall/Winter 2024.
This position will be expected to conduct basic or translational laboratory-based research in an area relevant to human or mouse immune cell development and/or function, including but not limited to immunodeficiencies, immune dysregulation, cell therapies, genetic engineering, in vivo delivery, genomics, or imaging.
The University of Washington Department of Pediatrics and Seattle Children's are committed to improving the health of all children through outstanding research. Seattle Children's Research Institute is one of the nation's top five pediatric research institutions and is internationally recognized for biomedical research. The Institute consists of seven major research and translation centers and is involved in many innovative research endeavors, from human disease investigations to improving investigational therapies.
The SCRI campus is in the heart of Seattle's biotechnology community, and within walking distance to academic partners including the University of Washington, the Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center, and the Benaroya Research Institute, as well as several prominent biotechnology institutions. SCRI provides a vibrant, collaborative, and well-funded research environment with excellent facilities that facilitate collaborative relationships between clinical, translational, and basic science researchers. SCRI based faculty are also active participants in University of Washington based graduate training programs including Molecular and Cellular Biology, Immunology, M3D, MSTP and others.
Associate Professors and Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
The base salary range for this position will be: Associate Professors MD $15,783 - $23,674 per month ($189,398 - $284,098 annually), Professors MD $17,929.50 - $26,893.66 per month ($215,154 - $322,724 annually), Associate Professors Non-MD $8,991.75 - $13,487.58 per month ($107,901 - $161,851 annually), Professors Non-MD $12,058 - $18,087 per month ($144,696 - $217,044 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children's University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by Children's University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.
All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.
Qualifications
Requires an M.D. or D.O., or foreign equivalent. A PhD in a relevant field, or M.D./Ph.D combined (or foreign equivalent), is also acceptable.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
