What you'll do
The Species Technical Sales Lead - Swine, North America is accountable for accelerating profitable growth of Trouw Nutrition's Swine value proposition across the United States and Canada by combining deep technical expertise with disciplined commercial execution.
This role translates global and regional species strategies into impactful go-to-market actions, supports sales and key account teams with technical leadership, and ensures our feed additives, micro ingredients, services, and digital solutions deliver measurable customer value in performance, economics, sustainability, and compliance.
As a highly visible technical and commercial leader, you will work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Nutrition, Formulation, Validation, Regulatory, and Operations teams to strengthen customer partnerships, drive value-based selling, and support long-term growth across the North American swine industry.
Who we're looking for
Species Strategy & Go-to-Market Leadership
  • Develop and execute the North American Swine technical sales strategy.
  • Translate business priorities into annual technical and commercial action plans.
  • Identify growth opportunities, market trends, competitive threats, and customer needs.
  • Support development of customer and channel playbooks to strengthen commercial execution.
  • Partner with Marketing, Commercial, Regulatory, and Validation teams to shape solutions, programs, and product roadmaps.

Commercial Planning & Business Performance
  • Co-lead annual Swine business planning activities including volume, margin, growth, and key initiative targets.
  • Support forecasting, pipeline management, and opportunity conversion efforts.
  • Provide technical input into value propositions, positioning, and ROI-driven customer solutions.

Technical Sales & Customer Value Delivery
  • Partner with sales teams on strategic customer engagements and technical solution development.
  • Conduct technical needs assessments and provide consultative support during the sales process.
  • Lead development of technical selling tools, value calculators, protocols, and training materials.
  • Drive technical validation trials and translate results into commercial claims, case studies, and customer-facing value stories.

Strategic Account Development
  • Partner with Key Account Managers and Commercial Leaders to support strategic customer growth.
  • Build relationships with nutritionists, veterinarians, production managers, and key decision makers.
  • Mobilize internal technical experts to solve customer challenges and create differentiated solutions.

Marketing Activation & Industry Leadership
  • Support the development and execution of demand-generation programs, technical content, webinars, and industry events.
  • Represent Trouw Nutrition at conferences, customer meetings, and industry forums.
  • Strengthen Trouw Nutrition's position as a trusted technical partner within the swine industry.

People Leadership & Capability Building
  • Lead and develop the Swine Technical Sales team across North America.
  • Establish technical selling standards, best practices, and learning programs.
  • Coach employees and commercial teams to improve consultative selling capabilities and customer engagement effectiveness.
  • Foster collaboration across Sales, Nutrition, Formulation, Marketing, and Validation teams.

Performance, Reporting & Governance
  • Monitor and report key performance indicators and drive corrective actions where required.
  • Ensure disciplined use of CRM, forecasting, and knowledge management systems.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, feed and food regulations, product stewardship requirements, and customer governance standards.

You'll also need
  • PhD preferred in Animal Science, Swine Science, Animal Nutrition, Veterinary Medicine, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in swine nutrition, technical sales, feed additives, premix, animal nutrition, or related agribusiness.
  • Demonstrated success supporting customer solutions, technical selling, and commercial growth initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of swine production systems, nutrition, and performance drivers.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into customer value.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and build trusted customer relationships.
  • Experience working collaboratively with nutritionists, formulators, commercial sales teams, and technical stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 40-50% across North America.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within feed additives, specialty ingredients, premix, animal health, or related technical solutions.
  • Experience leading technical teams or technical sales organizations.
  • Strong understanding of value-based selling and consultative sales approaches.
  • Experience supporting technical validation trials and translating results into commercial applications.
