Job Description

The Pharmacy Technician helps licensed pharmacists to provide medication and other healthcare products to patients.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Complies with all applicable organizational policies and procedures.
  • Answers telephone calls before the 3rd ring
  • Responds to client questions and problems.
  • Maintains open communication with clients and referral sources.
  • Receives written prescriptions or requests for prescription refills from patients.
  • Process prescriptions using computer software and mathematical skills
  • Is familiar with the rules and regulations regarding coverage of items being billed.
  • Verify that the information on the prescription is complete and accurate.
  • Obtains proper information and documentation for all new clients.
  • Prepare medication for patients in bottles/bingos/multi-cards/dispills
  • Retrieving, counting, pouring, weighing, and at times mixing the medication
  • Measure the dosage of medications, according to prescription orders
  • Label and record dosage information according to state laws
  • Monitor storage and inventory of medications and supplies
  • Organizes Medications on the shelf by "Brand" names
  • Maintain records by recording/filing prescription hardcopies
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Current Washington State Pharmacy Technician certification required
  • Computer knowledge of current software such as Microsoft Word and Adobe Reader

Physical Requirement:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand, use hands to handle or feel, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
