Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is a 456-bed, publicly owned teaching hospital in Colton, California, providing comprehensive, high-acuity care to a diverse patient population. Its pharmacy department supports advanced clinical services, interprofessional training, and a solid learning environment for developing pharmacists.

This Pharmacist Intern role is an on-site position at a CPS pharmacy in Colton, CA at ARMC. The per-dem schedule may include working weekends. General hours are between 6:00 AM to 10:30 PM. Hours may be flexible for school and school rotation schedules. The intern role includes both inpatient and outpatient pharmacy roles.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and distribute drugs prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners
  • Provide information to patients about medications and their use
  • Perform clerical duties such as filing patient records and processing insurance claims
  • Perform research for the drug information center (e.g. Monographs, Medication Use Evaluation)
  • Perform administrative tasks including unit inspection and chart review
  • Participate in pharmacy reporting through review of adverse drug reactions, medication overrides
  • Assist with the medication reconciliation process
  • Perform technician roles such as medication packaging, delivery, refill of automated dispensing cabinets, and sterile compounding
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws of the applicable State Board of Pharmacy
  • Administer immunizations as allowed by State Board of Pharmacy
  • Consistently exhibit behavior and communication skills that demonstrate the company's commitment to superior customer service, including quality care and concern with internal and external customers
  • Adhere to having a safe and secure workspace and communicate with their leadership when that safety (equipment, system, information) is compromised
  • Comply with policies, rules and regulations set forth by the Board of Pharmacy, and other applicable regulatory bodies
  • Use, protect, and disclose patients' protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Doctor of Pharmacy program
  • Active pharmacist intern license (or equivalent depending on state regulations) or be able to obtain an active licensure prior to the start of the intern program
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization (F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc. will not be considered)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Clinical rotation, pharmacy intern, or pharmacy technician experience
  • 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Solid understanding of medical and pharmacy terminology

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $18 to $25 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
