Mechanical Engineering Supervisor – Blow Fill Seal (BFS)

Philadelphia, PA Area

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM–3:30 PM

Are you ready for a leadership opportunity in a regulated manufacturing environment? This Mechanical Engineering Supervisor position offers the opportunity to lead Blow Fill Seal (BFS) production operations, oversee technical teams, improve equipment reliability, and drive continuous improvement within a sterile manufacturing environment. Job Summary

The Mechanical Engineering Supervisor will oversee daily BFS production and mechanical operations, including equipment setup, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and process improvement. This position will supervise technicians and operators while partnering with Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to improve production throughput, equipment reliability, product quality, and process performance.

As a Mechanical Engineering Supervisor You Will:
  • Manage daily Blow Fill Seal (BFS) production operations, including resource allocation, priorities, yield, throughput, utilization, and mechanical downtime
  • Lead the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of BFS machinery and associated mechanical systems
  • Ensure mechanical adjustments and equipment calibrations are completed appropriately
  • Analyze equipment performance and perform root cause analysis
  • Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
  • Supervise, coach, and develop technicians and operators
  • Oversee preventive maintenance and mechanical repairs of BFS equipment
  • Troubleshoot rotating equipment, filling machinery, conveyors, pumps, nozzle assemblies, PLCs, and HMIs
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, aseptic manufacturing, cleanroom, SOP, and batch-record requirements
  • Maintain documentation for mechanical maintenance, calibrations, deviations, repairs, and production activities
  • Partner with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, and Supply Chain
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to BFS production
  • Drive mechanical upgrades, equipment changes, and process improvements
  • Support equipment qualification and performance optimization projects
Skills and Requirements:
  • Minimum 3–5 years of mechanical engineering or technical maintenance experience in manufacturing or sterile production
  • BFS or aseptic filling equipment experience highly preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with mechanical systems, rotating equipment, filling machinery, conveyors, pumps, nozzle assemblies, PLCs, and HMIs
  • Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience working within a regulated manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of SOPs, batch records, and cleanroom protocols
  • Strong leadership and people-management skills
  • At least 2 years of supervisory or lead experience preferred
  • Knowledge of GMP, ISO, aseptic processing, CAPA, and deviation investigations preferred
  • Knowledge of 21 CFR Parts 210 and 211, FDA, cGMP, OSHA, and EPA requirements preferred
  • ERP/MRP and CMMS experience preferred
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or 5S experience preferred
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
