The Woodlands Country Club, Palmer Course - The Woodlands, TX

Club Location:
The Woodlands Country Club is a premier private club in The Woodlands, TX, featuring 99 holes of championship golf across five distinct courses. The club offers resort-style amenities including racquet sports, fitness centers, and multiple dining options.
Golf Courses
The club's massive 99-hole complex includes five primary courses, each with its own character:
  • Tournament Course: Long-time host of the Shell Houston Open and current home of the PGA Tour Champions Insperity Invitational.
  • Palmer Course: A 27-hole layout designed by Arnold Palmer featuring three nine-hole courses: King, General, and Deacon.
  • Player Course: An 18-hole Gary Player signature course known for its challenging water hazards and bunkers.
  • North & West Courses (The Trails): Two 18-hole courses (formerly Panther Trail and The Oaks) that have been revitalized into a 36-hole venue.

Club Amenities

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manages all sources of revenue to include golf rounds, food and beverage, merchandising, and agronomy. Ensures all departments are profitable and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Creates local and national marketing plans and pricing strategies and knows market segments. Responds quickly to changing market conditions and revises strategies accordingly.
  • Actively participates in sales discussions, meetings and plans. Knows key account executives and business base. Knows monthly production levels for each sales person on the staff.
  • Promotes Arcis Golf's philosophies throughout the golf course to both employees and guests.
  • Creates the golf course's annual budget and monitors the performance of the golf course throughout the year.
  • Manages Human Resources functions of the golf course by controlling turnover, motivating employees, focusing on employee development and retention and conducting regular employee meetings.
  • Protects the golf course and its assets through enforcing and maintaining a preventative maintenance program.
  • Responds quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner. Follows up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Ensures golf course is in compliance with all federal, state and local laws.

Note: Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
Qualifications:
Education / Experience: Four-year college degree is preferred, but not required and/or equivalent work experience. Special consideration will be given to those who exhibit exemplary performance. 5-7 years golf course experience required.

Physical / Cognitive Activities:

The major responsibility in this position is to oversee all of the major operations of the golf course departments. Therefore a significant portion of time will be spent moving about the property listening and speaking to guests and employees. Strong leadership and problem-solving skills will be used. This person will need to have strong speaking, reading and writing skills, for effective communication throughout the golf course.
The majority of time is spent interpreting and analyzing business records, statistical reports and financial reports. A portion of time will be assisting the sales force in developing and implementing effective sales and marketing strategies. Mathematical skills are needed and include basic math, problem solving, reasoning, negotiating, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, variances and percentages are often used.
This person will occasionally assist in carrying heavy items requiring lifting of up to 50 pounds. He or she will also spend some time moving about the golf course overseeing the various departments.
