SUMMARY
The Senior IT Systems Engineer ("Ingeniero Senior de Sistemas") is a hands-on technical leader responsible for the design, implementation, automation, and long-term reliability of Evans Hotels' core infrastructure. This role serves as the primary owner of systems and virtualization platforms and acts as the highest escalation point below the Director/VP level.
This position is not a support role with occasional engineering work. It is an engineering role with operational accountability. This position requires deep systems and networking experience, strong automation instincts, and the ability to design solutions that scale, are secure, and are well-documented.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Own and maintain core infrastructure platforms, including virtualization, storage, identity, networking, and security systems.
  • Design, implement, and manage virtualization environments with XCP-ng.
  • Administer and optimize TrueNAS Scale storage platforms, including replication, snapshots, performance tuning, and lifecycle planning.
  • Manage and maintain pfSense firewalls, including VLAN design, routing, VPNs, and security policies.
  • Administer Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, and hybrid identity integrations.
  • Manage and support the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including Entra ID (Azure AD), Exchange Online, security controls, and licensing.
  • Act as the final escalation point for complex infrastructure and networking issues.
  • Lead infrastructure-related projects from design through implementation and documentation.
  • Drive automation using scripting and configuration management to reduce manual effort and risk.
  • Produce clear, accurate technical documentation that enables operational support and disaster recovery.
  • Evaluate new technologies and make data-driven recommendations aligned with business needs.
  • Work with vendors and service providers to ensure solutions meet design and security expectations.
  • Enforce best practices around security, redundancy, monitoring, and change management.
  • Work in rotating on call shift amongst IT team.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least 8-10 years of progressive experience in systems and infrastructure engineering.
  • A combination of experience, education, and/or training may be substituted for either requirement.
  • Previous similar position in a hotel or similar industry is a plus.
  • Availability to work on weekends, holidays, and occasional nights is required.
  • Strong experience administering Windows Server environments and Active Directory.
  • Strong networking fundamentals, including VLANs, routing, firewalling, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong in Microsoft 365 technologies.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms (XCP-ng, Xen, VMware, or equivalent).
  • Experience with enterprise storage platforms, preferably ZFS-based systems.
  • Hands-on experience with XCP-ng, TrueNAS Scale, and pfSense.
  • Strong PowerShell skills; Python or other automation languages a plus.
  • Experience automating system builds, configuration, or monitoring.
  • Relevant certifications are a plus but not required.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, squat for prolonged periods of time, up to and including, the entire shift and lift up to 25 lbs.
