Job description

ATA Engineering, an employee-owned engineering consulting company, is seeking an experienced Senior Network Administrator to manage and support our WAN infrastructure, Fortinet firewall environment, VPN services, and telephone (VoIP) systems. This hands‑on role requires strong technical expertise in network security, connectivity, and telephony along with the ability to respond to support tickets in a timely and professional manner. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of relevant experience and is comfortable working across Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and VMware environments.

LOCATION: Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot WAN circuits, routers, and related connectivity
  • Manage Fortinet firewall policies, security rules, and firmware updates
  • Administer site‑to‑site and remote‑access VPN solutions for secure connectivity
  • Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telephone systems (VoIP, SIP trunks, and related endpoints)
  • Monitor network performance, firewall health, VPN tunnels, and telephony quality; respond to alerts and resolve issues proactively
  • Create and update network and telephony documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures
  • Respond to and resolve support tickets related to WAN, firewalls, VPN, and telephony in a ticketing system (OS Ticket)
  • Collaborate with team members on projects such as network upgrades, migrations, security audits, and new site deployments
  • Perform routine maintenance, patching, and backups for managed systems
  • Supervise and mentor Network Administrators
Requirements:
  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited college/university with an excellent academic record
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience in WAN, firewall, VPN, and/or telephony administration
  • Strong proficiency with Fortinet firewalls (FortiGate), including policy management, VPN setup, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with WAN technologies and negotiating contracts with ISPs
  • Solid knowledge of VoIP/telephony systems; knowledge of FreePBX is a plus
  • Familiarity with Windows server administration, RHEL Linux, and VMware vSphere/ESXi environments
  • Willingness and ability to efficiently answer and resolve end‑user and infrastructure support tickets
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills:
  • Certifications such as Fortinet NSE 4/5/6/7, CCNA/CCNP, or an equivalent
  • Certifications such as CISSP/CASP/CISM
  • Experience with Fortinet ecosystem tools (FortiClient EMS, FortiAuthenticator, FortiAnalyzer)
  • Knowledge of network monitoring tools
  • Experience with compliance to CMMC/NIST 800-171
Salary Range:
  • Experienced Professionals and Managers: $90,000–$175,000 per year
