Personal Lines insurance agents can earn around $4,000 weekly through commissions and sales, especially with experience and a strong client base. Other high-paying roles without a degree include real estate brokers, commercial pilots, and certain sales positions, which often rely on skills, licensing, or certifications rather than formal education.

Which line of insurance pays the most?

In personal lines insurance, high-net-worth individual policies such as high-value home and luxury auto insurance tend to pay the most in claims and premiums. These policies often involve higher coverage limits and specialized skills, leading to higher earning potential for insurance agents and adjusters working in these areas.

How much does a 215 license make?

Commissions and bonuses can also significantly impact total earnings in this role.

Why do most insurance agents quit?

What are Personal Lines in insurance?

Job description

Antilles Insurance Company is a leading property and casualty insurer headquartered in Puerto Rico, regulated by the Oficina del Comisionado de Seguros (OCS). We serve both personal and commercial lines clients across the island, combining deep local expertise with a commitment to operational excellence and innovation.

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Personal Lines Underwriter to join our underwriting team. This role is responsible for evaluating, pricing, and binding personal lines risks — primarily Personal Package Policies, HO6 and related endorsements — in compliance with company guidelines, OCS regulations, and sound underwriting principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and underwrite new business submissions and renewals for personal lines accounts including personal package and HO6.
  • Analyze risk characteristics, property values, TIV, construction type, occupancy, and loss history to determine acceptability and pricing
  • Communicate underwriting decisions to brokers and agents in a timely and professional manner
  • Ensure compliance with OCS-mandated forms, rates, and filing requirements for personal lines products
  • Process policy endorsements, cancellations, and reinstatements accurately within system workflows
  • Collaborate with the production team to support broker relationships and agency pipeline development
  • Participate in workflow automation initiatives and contribute to process improvement efforts
  • Prepare reports and metrics for management review, including loss ratios, submission counts, and bind rates
  • Assist in the review and update of underwriting guidelines, SOPs, and authority matrices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field
  • Minimum 2–4 years of personal lines underwriting experience in a P&C insurance environment
  • Working knowledge of Puerto Rico OCS regulatory framework preferred
  • Familiarity with personal lines policy forms (ISO HO3, HO6, DP forms) and coverage interpretation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with policy administration systems a plus
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and sound judgment in risk evaluation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English
  • CPCU, CIC, or similar insurance designation is a plus but not required

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience
  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits
  • Professional development and continuing education support
  • Collaborative team environment with exposure to both personal and commercial lines operations
  • Opportunity to contribute to a growing company undergoing exciting operational modernization
