Job description

About this position

Join one of the Midwest's fastest-growing personal injury firms โ€” where every attorney earns uncapped origination pay from day one.

Compensation: $115,000 โ€“ $170,000 (Base + Quarterly Performance Bonus) High performers regularly earn above this range, and total compensation has no ceiling.

Origination Bonus โ€” Paid on Every Case You Bring In Refer a case to the firm and earn one-third of the firm's fee at resolution, on top of your regular compensation. Most firms reserve this for partners. We offer it to every attorney, starting on day one.

DM Injury Law is one of the fastest-growing personal injury firms in the Midwest โ€” 70+ attorneys, 200 support staff, and offices across 10 markets including Kansas City, St. Louis, Denver, Omaha, and Oklahoma City. Founded in 2013, the firm's growth has been driven by professional, compassionate legal representation for clients after life-altering personal injury events.

Why DM Injury Law
  • Origination from Day One โ€” Earn one-third of the firm's fee on every case you bring in. No partnership track required, and no cap on what you can earn.
  • No Billable Hour Requirements โ€” We're a contingency practice, so you focus on client outcomes, not clock entries.
  • Dedicated Support Staff โ€” Paralegals, case managers, and intake specialists behind every attorney.
  • Quarterly Bonuses โ€” Performance bonuses paid every quarter, not just once a year.
  • 401(k) with 4% Match โ€” Fully matched up to 4%, above the law firm average.
  • Full Benefits โ€” Health, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Sustainable Caseloads โ€” Realistic workloads by design. This is a long-term career, not a burnout cycle.

This role is based in our Kansas City office. You'll carry a personal injury pre-litigation caseload โ€” building client relationships, negotiating with insurers, and moving cases toward resolution โ€” while dedicated paralegals, case managers, and intake staff handle the administrative load so your time stays on law.

What You'll Do
  • Manage a personal injury pre-litigation caseload from intake through demand and resolution
  • Build and maintain client relationships through consistent, proactive communication
  • Negotiate directly with insurance adjusters to maximize client recovery
  • Draft demand letters, settlement agreements, correspondence, and other legal documents
  • Collaborate with and direct paralegal and case management staff in the St. Louis office
  • Develop referral relationships that grow your book of business โ€” and your income
What We're Looking For

Required

  • Eligibility to obtain an Kansas Bar license (UBE score or reciprocity)
  • Organized and self-directed approach to a high-volume caseload
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working with legal technology and case management platforms

Preferred

  • At least one year of personal injury experience (strong candidates with relevant civil litigation background will also be considered)
  • A genuine client-first orientation โ€” an understanding of how a case outcome affects someone's life

Attorneys who want to lead find real opportunity here. Growth looks different for everyone, and we build around what matters to you:

  • Team Lead โ€” Guide and support a group of attorneys day-to-day
  • Department Head โ€” Own strategy and performance across a practice area
  • Mentorship โ€” Shape the next generation of attorneys at the firm
  • New Markets โ€” Help open and build offices as the firm expands
