Job description

Description:

Build your trial practice in Fort Wayne while owning your own personal injury caseload.

At Hensley Legal Group, our attorneys take ownership of their own personal injury caseloads, work directly with clients, and have the support and resources needed to take cases from filing through resolution—and to trial when that's what the case demands.

Why This Role Stands Out

You own your cases. You'll serve as the lead attorney on your own personal injury litigation caseload from filing through resolution or trial.

You have support. You'll work alongside a dedicated paralegal so you can focus on strategy, advocacy, and your clients.

You get courtroom experience. We believe trials matter. You'll have opportunities to handle depositions, mediations, settlement negotiations, motions, discovery, trial preparation, and courtroom advocacy.

Your work matters. You'll represent people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives and advocate for outcomes that can genuinely change their futures.

What You'll Do

  • Manage your own personal injury litigation caseload from filing through resolution or trial
  • Develop case strategy and evaluate liability, damages, and case value
  • Communicate directly with clients and guide them through the litigation process
  • Handle written and oral discovery, motions, pleadings, and other litigation matters
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Work with medical providers, witnesses, and expert professionals to develop evidence
  • Attend mediations and negotiate settlements
  • Prepare cases for trial and advocate for your clients in the courtroom when needed
  • Partner with your paralegal to keep cases moving and clients informed

What We're Looking For

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.)
  • Active law license in good standing in Indiana
  • Litigation experience; personal injury experience strongly preferred
  • Strong legal writing, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy skills
  • Trial experience or a genuine desire to build and sharpen your trial skills
  • Strong judgment, accountability, and ability to take ownership of your cases
  • Client-first mindset and strong communication skills
  • Indiana and Illinois licenses are a plus
  • Bilingual skills are a plus

What You'll Get at HLG

  • The opportunity to own and lead your own cases
  • Dedicated case management/paralegal support
  • Meaningful courtroom and trial experience
  • A collaborative team of experienced litigation professionals
  • Opportunities to grow your skills and advance your career
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with matching
  • Paid parental leave
  • Pet benefits
  • A primarily in-office, team-oriented environment
  • Reasonable flexibility when life happens

Schedule: Full-time. Attorneys should expect a minimum 40-hour workweek, with additional time as needed to meet client and case demands.

About Hensley Legal Group

We're looking for attorneys who want more than a job—they want to build their litigation skills, take ownership of their work, and make a meaningful difference for the people they represent.
