Job description

Do you love the "Friday Night Lights"? Are you looking for a meaningful way to support a student musician while being part of one of our district's most vibrant programs? We are seeking a dedicated, reliable, and proactive individual to serve as a 1-on-1 Personal Care Assistant (PCA) for a student in our Marching Band program!
TITLE: Personal Care Assistant for Marching Band
QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performanceย 



  • High School diploma required
  • Meet one of the paraprofessional competency training requirements below:
    • two years of post-secondary education coursework (48 college credits) or
    • Highly Qualified Special Education Certificate through PDE or
    • passing score on the Comprehensive Assessment of Paraprofessional Educators (CAPE) Test or
    • possess the ability to obtain highly qualified status through educational opportunities provided within the timeline of the district
  • Prior experience working with students with disabilities and/or musical knowledge (preferred)
  • Must have obtained (or will obtain) valid PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse and FBI Criminal History Background Checks (use code 1KG6XN) within the last twelve (12) months.

REPORTS TO: High School Assistant Principal and/or Marching Band Director

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:ย Part time, after school or evening hours based on student need and participation. Must be flexible depending on changes to activity schedule and student participation. Hourly pay and other conditions of employment in accordance with current District applicable policies and the York Suburban Educational Support Personnel agreement.

POSITION OVERVIEW:ย The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) for the Marching Band program provides dedicated 1-on-1 support to a student musician during rehearsals, competitions, and events. This role ensures the student's safety, mobility, and personal care needs are met within the unique environment of the marching arts. The ideal candidate is highly reliable, as the student's participation is contingent upon the presence of the PCA for safety.ย
