Job description

Duties Description Under the direction of a Data Analyst 3, within the DOB/Chamber Dedicated Team, the incumbent will be responsible for building data analytic solutions for new data products and modernizing existing solutions, using minimal traditional coding. The individual will leverage platforms such as IBM Cognos, Power BI, and Tableau to deliver solutions that meet agency business needs. It is also expected that the incumbent will collaborate closely with dedicated team and agency business stakeholders on work prioritization. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
• Gather and document requirements for data analytic solutions.
• Develop and implement data analytics using platforms including, but not limited to: IBM Cognos, Power BI, and Tableau.
• Modernize and enhance existing data analytic solutions.
• Ensure the quality and effectiveness of developed data analytic solutions so that data integrity is maintained.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data analytics platforms and solutions.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of data science, data analysis principles and best practices.
• Design and implement any necessary data integrations for existing and new applications. Possess knowledge of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) as it relates to data repositories.
• Collaborate with the Project Management Office (PMO) and business stakeholders to prioritize development efforts and establish product and project timelines.
Minimum Qualifications Six years* of information technology experience, one of which must be within the
appropriate specialty**.
*Substitutions: associate's degree with 15 semester credit hours in computer science or a related field substitutes for one year of general information technology experience.
Candidates in a bachelor's degree program with at least 15 semester credit hours in computer science or a related field can be credited with one year of general information technology experience.
Bachelor's degree in any field including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science or a related field substitutes for three years of general information technology experience. Any bachelor's degree substitutes for two years of general information technology experience.
Master's degree or higher in computer science or related field substitutes for one additional year of general information technology experience.
**Specialty includes experience within one or more of the following information technology disciplines: artificial intelligence, cloud solutions, human centered design, product management, quality assurance, rapid application development, robotic product management, geospatial information services.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience in building and modernizing data analytic solutions.
• Proficiency in developing data analytics using platforms such as IBM Cognos, Power BI, and Tableau.
• Desired ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) skills and experience.
• Strong understanding of data analysis principles and best practices.
• Experience gathering and documenting technical requirements.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with PMO and business stakeholders.
Additional Comments ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless the candidate provides documentation that they are authorized to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis. If eligible, positions located in New York City will receive an additional $4,000 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.
