Job overview and responsibilities
As a Test Automation and Quality Engineering Manager of Information Technology at United, you will be responsible for the delivery of excellence through strategic resource planning and automation focused quality initiatives. You'll lead and mentor both onsite and offshore Quality Engineering teams, ensuring they take full ownership of deliverables and uphold the highest standards.
In this role, you will be accountable for governing quality efforts across multiple projects and/or large programs with several quality engineering & testing workstreams. You'll collaborate closely with application teams and organizational leadership to influence best in class quality practices and advance TMMi test maturity across the enterprise.
• Govern functional and non-functional testing that includes agile, integration, end to end, performance, stress and endurance test with application development and non-functional teams
• Offer creative solutions to solve complex problems such as technical limitations for test automation, late delivery of QA builds, scope creep, emergency changes, shifting priorities, etc.
• Drive innovations and efficiencies with GenAI capabilities from proof of concept to implementation across Digital Technology
• Develop and implement strategies to improve Quality Engineering practices from pre to post deployment (i.e. gating criteria, in sprint test automation, tooling)
• Partner with application DevOps teams and build CICD pipeline for the sanity, integration and regression tests in QA and Production environments
• Accountable for overseeing quality efforts on multiple projects and/or a large program that consists of multiple testing tracks and applications, using test automation principles and AI-first approach
• Research and resolve people and project issues; provide recommendations; escalate to senior management as needed
Qualifications
What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer science, Information technology or similar
  • 3+ years of Quality Engineering experience with managing large enterprise programs
  • 3+ years of experience implementing Test Automation framework
  • 3+ years of experience in supporting release automation (CICD) and application performance testing
  • Experience leading projects while supervising large teams of Quality Engineers
  • Programming: Java, Selenium, Rest Assured and SQL
  • Willing and able to travel domestic/internationally (up to 10%)
  • Listening, communication, partnership and negotiation skills
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Previous airline experience
  • Understanding of GenAI testing technologies
  • CSTE or any other Test Automation related certifications
  • Test Management Tools: Jira, Zephyr, Microsoft Test Management (ADO)
  • Automation: Hands-on exposure to Playwright/Selenium, Ready API/Rest Assured, Postman, SeeTest, or any others to automate API's, UI and Mobile applications
  • Continuous Integration and Deployment: Harness/Github Actions or any other tools
  • Understanding of cloud, distributed, microservice, mainframe and desk top based technology (AWS Preferred)
