QA Performance Engineer
Location: Vienna, VA (Hybrid - 3 days/week onsite)
Pay Rate: $46.00-$53.00/hour
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced QA Performance Engineer to join the Digital Delivery team responsible for building and supporting modern web and mobile applications, microservices, and scalable enterprise solutions.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in performance engineering, performance test automation, and application performance analysis. This role focuses on designing, developing, executing, and analyzing performance tests to ensure applications meet scalability, reliability, and performance expectations before production deployment.
You will collaborate closely with QA Leads, developers, DevOps engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to identify performance risks early, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and drive continuous improvements across multiple enterprise initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and execute automated performance test scripts using NeoLoad or similar performance testing tools.
  • Perform load, stress, endurance, scalability, and capacity testing for enterprise web and mobile applications.
  • Develop realistic workload models and test scenarios that accurately simulate production traffic.
  • Define performance baselines, KPIs, and SLAs using production and production-like environments.
  • Analyze performance test results and identify application, infrastructure, database, or network bottlenecks.
  • Perform root cause analysis across multiple application layers and recommend performance improvements.
  • Utilize monitoring and observability tools such as Azure Application Insights, Splunk, or equivalent platforms.
  • Support performance testing throughout the SDLC by integrating testing into Agile and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Create scalable, repeatable, and maintainable performance testing frameworks and automation solutions.
  • Identify application dependencies and implement service virtualization or mocking strategies using WireMock or similar tools.
  • Support and maintain performance testing environments to ensure consistent and reliable execution.
  • Collaborate with developers, architects, DevOps, and QA teams to resolve performance issues.
  • Review test plans, test scripts, and test results to ensure adherence to QA standards and best practices.
  • Document defects, performance risks, and optimization recommendations while providing regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior QA engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of performance testing processes and standards.
  • Support testing across distributed microservices and cloud-native architectures.

  • 4+ years of experience in QA Performance Engineering or Performance Testing.
