Job Overview:

Trinitas Regional Medical Center, established in 2000 through the consolidation of Elizabeth General Medical Center and St. Elizabeth Hospital, operates as a Catholic teaching hospital under the oversight of the Sisters of Charity of St. Elizabeth. Situated in Elizabeth, NJ, the hospital serves a population exceeding 129,000, offering comprehensive healthcare across two campuses. With 554 beds, including facilities for long-term care and behavioral health, Trinitas annually treats nearly 20,000 inpatients, 70,000 emergency patients and accommodates over 450,000 outpatient visits. Committed to God's healing mission, Trinitas prioritizes excellent, compassionate care, particularly for the poor and vulnerable, exemplified by its status as a leading Charity Care provider in the state. Qualifications:

Required:

  • ASN or Nursing Diploma
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Proficient computer skills

Preferred:

  • Med./Surg. Telemetry and/or ER nursing experience
  • National nursing certifications

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • BLS through American Heart Association upon hire
  • ACLS Certification within 6 months of start date
  • Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License or active Compact Registered Nurse License with New Jersey endorsement

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Per Diem
  • Day Shift
  • 7a-7:30p
  • Monday – Friday, every other weekend and holiday rotation as needed

Essential Functions:

  • The Trinitas Medical Surgical Unit, 6 South, provides care to postoperative patients as well as stabilized ventilator dependent patients.  
  • The unit offers 22 rooms, 6 of which are single bedded, and can accommodate up to 38 patients, depending on the number of stabilized ventilator dependent patients occupying specific rooms.
  • The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics.
  • The Registered Nurse assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others of the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resource persons and programs available.
  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors.
  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served.
  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers.
  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.
  • The Registered Nurse is an individual practitioner and the interdisciplinary team manager, utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient’s needs.
