Job description

The Software Engineer is responsible for all stages of the software development lifecycle using a variety of technologies and tools to build impactful software solutions. The scope of this job includes building and optimizing comprehensive solutions that prioritize end-user efficiency and experience. You'll help build WellSky's greenfield, AI-native rebuild of our platform on a modern .NET and React/TypeScript stack, and contribute to the existing application during the transition.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain features and components of WellSky solutions with an emphasis on code quality, performance, and scalability.
  • Build and maintain features across a modern .NET/C# backend and a React/TypeScript frontend, following established patterns and guidance from senior engineers.
  • Collaborate with solution managers, designers, and other teams to gather requirements, propose solutions, and deliver high-impact features that align with business goals.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues in production and development environments.
  • Optimize system performance and scalability through troubleshooting and ongoing improvements.
  • Prepare technical documentation and participate in code reviews to ensure that software code meets internal standards and follows industry best practices.
  • Develop and maintain a robust set of unit tests and participate in other styles of automated testing, including integration, load, and performance testing to validate quality of code written.
  • Leverage AI tools and platforms as an integral part of daily responsibilities to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows, and drive data-informed outcomes.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience
  • 2-4 years of relevant software development experience
  • Proficiency in at least one object-oriented, statically typed language (C#/.NET preferred; Java or similar acceptable with willingness to ramp on C#/.NET)
  • Working knowledge of a modern JavaScript framework (React/Angular) and TypeScript
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL (PostgreSQL a plus)
  • Experience writing automated unit and integration tests.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms
  • Hands-on use of AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot) in day-to-day work

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Healthcare industry experience
  • Exposure to Python
  • Experience with Git-based CI/CD (GitHub Actions) and Docker

Job Expectations:
  • Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed
  • Must work in accordance with applicable security policies and procedures to safeguard company and client information
  • Must be able to sit and view a computer screen for extended periods of time
