This role offers flexibility, allowing SLPs to choose their assignments and schedules, but hours and benefits may vary depending on the employer and demand.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Per Diem Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), and why are they important?

Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR), standardized assessment tools, and augmentative communication systems is typically required. Flexibility, strong interpersonal skills, and effective time management help SLPs adapt to varied caseloads and build rapport with patients and teams. Per Diem SLPs may work in different settings, such as hospitals, schools, or rehabilitation centers, and must adapt quickly to new teams and environments.
