Position Description
General Summary
A Rig Welder operates welding equipment to fuse metals using various cutting and welding processes on pipelines, rigs, plants and facilities.
Essential Job Functions
1. Regular and reliable attendance.
2. Prepared and on time for scheduled shift with proper PPE.
3. Responsible for Daily Shift validations.
4. Must possess a current and valid Driver License with clean driving record.
5. All employees must read and exhibit understanding of the KSI SOPs
6. Have a fully equipped rig with proper equipment required for each job and have insurance on welding truck as per company requirements.
7. Buff and grind when necessary for each job.
8. Insurance Qualification specified in QA/QC program and ASME Section IX or specified Customer or code requirements for welding.
9. Participate in developing the Detailed Daily Work Plan (DDWP) on job sites.
10. Participate in safe work and compliance safety audits.
11. Perform monthly tool audit and ensure compliance of equipment (vehicle registration/ fire extinguisher).
12. Weld pipe and structural steel out of position to the quality standard specified.
13. Be aware of the dangers associated with hazardous atmospheres and hazards associated with using tools and equipment.
14. Pass radiographic examination or other ND inspection methods as required in the Construction Code.
15. Test the job site for immediate respiratory dangers and know how to read a monitor.
16. Perform tasks assigned by Crew Lead or Foreman.
17. Be actively involved in all safety processes.
18. Develop knowledge of KSI SOPs and refer to the SOP prior to each task.
19. Follow all KSI and customer policies and procedures.
20. Shall perform all physical and mental requirements listed.

โ€ข Knowledge of wire and filler materials application for various steel alloys, aluminum and some exotic materials
โ€ข Interpretation of mechanical drawings, including weld specific requirements and symbols
โ€ข Ability to layout, prefabricate and fit various types of pipes and sizes
โ€ข Ability to identify material: configuration type and grade
โ€ข Use of oxygen-acetylene cutting equipment
โ€ข Ability to complete training for all safety processes
โ€ข Knowledge of Lock Out/ Tag Out process
โ€ข Knowledge of Stop Work Authority (SWA)
โ€ข Knowledge of technology (iPads, cellphones etc.)
โ€ข Ability to read a tape measure, use conventional and precision measuring instruments
โ€ข Ability to recognize and use hand and power tools; grinders, buffers and drills
โ€ข Ability to read and use atmospheric monitors
โ€ข Ability to demonstrate basic construction safety rules
โ€ข Ability to work in confined spaces for long periods at a time
โ€ข Ability to wear supplied air mask and work at high elevated platforms when welding
Education and Experience
Preferably 3 years of industry experience along with knowledge of tools.

Lifting/Pulling/Jerking/Grasping/Raising/Lowering: Must be able to lift, grasp up to 50 lbs. with the use of fingers, palm and wrists to hold and/or manipulate objects (hammers, saws, pencils, pens etc.) Must be able to raise and lower objects from one level to another.

Working Conditions: The locations vary from site to site. Work is physically demanding and requires the ability to concentrate well on the job at hand, in all types of weather. Majority of the work is construction-based work. Walking and working surface vary depending on the terrain, from flat to extreme slopes and frozen, wet, snowy and slippery conditions.
Working Hours: Normally, a full-time employee will work 40 hours per week, depending on the factors such as weather and schedules. Work schedules and hours may vary depending on specific client locations and projects. In general, applicable work schedules include 5-10's and weekends. All labor laws in reference to rest breaks and meal periods will be followed.
