Job description

Basin Solutions is pleased to be partnering with VoltaGrid to recruit an experienced Operations Technician to support critical natural gas treating and processing operations. This role plays a key part in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable performance of compression, refrigeration, and dehydration systems in demanding field environments. We are seeking a technically strong, safety-driven professional who takes pride in operational excellence and brings a proactive, solutions-focused approach to the work.

Responsible to: AREA OPERATIONS MANAGER

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of natural gas treating and processing equipment, including refrigeration, decompression, and dehydration. Equipment includes, but is not limited to, mobile refrigeration units, reciprocating natural gas compressors, dehydrators, fluid separation equipment, valves, gas measurement equipment, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Experience working with CNG PRS systems or similar high-compression systems with Swagelok valves/regulators.
  • Provide daily oversight, including operating equipment within designated operating ranges, inspecting equipment periodically to detect malfunctions or the need for repair, and performing minor maintenance on equipment.
  • Must be willing to develop a working knowledge of fleet equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and work through problems efficiently.
  • Read, monitor, and record various operating conditions such as pressure, temperature, hours of operation, fuel consumed, water levels, etc.
  • Depressurize equipment.
  • Responsible for calculating, designing, and ensuring proper flows, temperatures, and pressure levels.
  • Moderate use of hand tools to work with and repair mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Understanding of basic electronics and electrical equipment is beneficial.
  • Will be required to complete all training, including Arc Flash Training and Basic Electrical Safety Training, as provided.
  • Must properly use ladders and safety harnesses.
  • Must be able to determine the appropriate level of personal protective equipment (PPE) needed for the specific assigned task.
  • Must possess the ability to self-supervise daily tasks and meet performance metrics.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team for multiple hours.
  • Must present equipment, tools, and self in an orderly and tidy manner.
  • Be available by phone while on scheduled rotation.
  • Able to operate a company vehicle in a safe manner and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • Oversee safety and environmental requirements while operating equipment onsite, and assist with incident response and investigations as needed.
  • On-time completion of all assigned training.
  • Promote ethical behavior in all aspects of the business and lead by example.
  • Computer literate with the ability to utilize online forms and automation systems.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.

Other Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of related experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
  • High school diploma, skilled labor certificate, or equivalent.
  • Willingness to work in extreme temperatures, wind, and precipitation, in addition to working at heights.
  • Ability to stoop, sit, stand, or remain on feet for extended periods of time.
  • Able to lift 25 pounds up to 10 times per shift.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
Compensation: $30-33/Hour
