Job Title: Florida Spring Training Event Staff
Location: Sarasota, FLType: Seasonal, Part-time
Overview:
The Florida Spring Training Event Staff employee is an outgoing, guest-friendly individual primarily responsible for ensuring that all guests of Ed Smith Stadium have an enjoyable and safe experience. Your attention to detail and excellent people skills will allow us to bring excitement to all guests on gamedays. Gameday Florida Event Staff assignments include: Usher, Gate Attendant, Guest Services and Executive/VIP Attendant.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Usher
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and welcoming environment for all guests throughout the ballpark.
  • Assist with wayfinding and seat locations.
  • Monitor assigned sections for safety and compliance with ballpark policies.
  • Offer responsive customer service when questions or issues arise.
  • Manage crowd flow.
  • Address guest concerns.
  • Support emergency or evacuation procedures when needed.

Gate Attendant
  • Ensure a smooth, efficient, and secure entry experience for guests arriving at the ballpark.
  • Scan tickets and verify entry credentials.
  • Assist with bag and item screening in accordance with ballpark policies.
  • Conduct security screenings in accordance with ballpark policies.

Guest Services
  • Ensure a smooth, efficient, and secure experience for guests at the ballpark.
  • Monitor emergency gates to ensure they remain closed and are used only for emergencies or authorized end-of-game exits.
  • Monitor fan behavior and prevent unauthorized access to restricted or staff-only areas.

Executive/VIP Attendant
  • Verify credentials for access into restricted areas.
  • Remain vigilant and notify leadership immediately when incidents or issues occur.
  • Provide professional, respectful, and discreet interactions with Executive and VIP guests at all times.

Basic Qualifications for All Event Staff Positions:
  • Exhibit a friendly, non-confrontational and customer service focused mindset.
  • Effectively communicate with other team members, leadership, partners, and guests.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Actively listen and understand feedback, direction and inquiries.
  • Ability to work in all types of weather, including heat, cold and rain.
  • Patience and comfortability working in large crowds in a loud environment.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, including walking throughout the ballpark and climbing stairs.
  • Ability to crouch and bend.
  • Ability to react to various situations quickly.
  • Ability to use technology applications for scheduling and job functions when necessary.
  • Ability to maintain a neat and professional appearance while adhering to position ballpark uniform standards.

Availability:
  • All Event Staff positions require flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as reflected by the Orioles 2027 Spring Training home game schedule.
  • Team Members must be available for all home games for the Orioles 2027 Spring Training schedule.
  • Must be available to arrive up to 30 minutes prior to gates opening and stay up to 30 minutes post-game.
  • Required to complete paid training prior to being approved to work game/event shifts.
