Gen Maint Crewmember and Setups Lead

About this position
The general maintenance crewmember for setups is responsible for the efficient setup and tear down of all campus events. The crewmember is also responsible for the care and maintenance of the campus grounds and buildings while setting up equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Scheduling and timely set-up for all college functions.
  2. Maintenance and utilization of the inventory of tables, chairs, tents and grills.
  3. Delivery of supplies and furniture in a timely manner to all requesting departments.
  4. Operation of college vehicles to deliver supplies and furniture.
  5. Coordination of the relocation of internal offices.
  6. Compliance with all safety and work rules and regulations.
  7. Preserve punctual and reliable attendance.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
  1. Assist the grounds crew in the daily maintenance of campus grounds.
  2. Report items, areas and equipment that need repair.
  3. Assist with all moves assigned in and outside of campus buildings including student and office moves.
  4. Contributes to the success of the department by performing all other duties as needed to drive the vision, fulfill the mission, and abide by the values of the College.

About our ideal candidate
EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS
  1. Completion of the 10th grade is required. However, significant relatable experience beyond that required for the position may be substituted for the required formal education. A high school diploma or the equivalent is preferred.
  2. A minimum of three years experience as a laborer, gardener, groundskeeper or similar work involving general labor duties which may include maintenance of grounds.
  3. Must be able to read English language sufficiently to understand written work orders and instructions as well as directions for the proper use of machinery and disposal/storage of solvents, chemicals, and similar products used in grounds services.
  4. Must be able to work as part of a team and independently as required.
  5. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse constituents.
  6. Must have valid Florida Driver's License. Must maintain a safe, valid driver's license throughout the course of employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  1. Requires the ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis, prolonged walking or standing, and frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching on a daily basis.
  2. Requires a full range of physical motion in order to set-up, prepare and maintain equipment and machines.
  3. Requires the ability to access facilities and areas which may only be accessible by climbing stairs or by climbing ladders to a height of 15 feet.
  4. Must be able to move throughout assigned areas, as the work is performed primarily outside and year round.
