Job description

Second Nature Brands is on a mission to grow to $1B over the next 2 years through an aggressive combination of M&A and organic growth. We have an opening for a Candy Maker position, who will be an important member of the supply chain team during this growth. 

Candy Maker assists in the creation of our famous confections. This position will be based out Sanders Chocolate Factory 23770 Hall Road in Clinton Township, MI 48036


Regular working hours are Sunday through Thursday, 10:00pm to 7:00am, with weekday or weekend overtime as needed. The starting rate is $18.00 per hour plus $1.00 shift premium.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Manually transferring cooled caramel tubs weighing approximately 50 lbs. each repeatedly to production line.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing the equipment used to make candy.
  • Starting and continuing the production line using established guidelines.
  • Quality control of caramel squares on production line to check for weight & uniformity.
  • Follow all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), Q&FS (Quality & Food Safety), and OSHA Safety policies.
  • Tracking inventory using ERP system.
  • Maintain clean and safe work area.
  • Preform other related duties as assigned.  

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED;
  • Self-directed
  • Must be able to read and write English proficiently 
  • Ability to work well with peers and supervisors
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to keep production lines running efficiently
  • Previous manufacturing experience (required) 

Physical Requirements

  • Standing for 8-10 hours
  • Walking up and down stairs
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs frequently
  • Wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) provided by company.
