Job description

With offices in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Ohio, Pepper Construction is a national general contracting and construction management firm that primarily serves the private sector. Pepper Construction provides clients the experience and resources of a national company, combined with the hands-on approach of a local company.
Position Summary:
As Sr. Superintendent, you will be responsible for the overall direction of field operations, completion schedules, and labor budget outcome of their construction project, including any specialty department work. Safety is a core value at Pepper Construction, and our Superintendents are expected to promote and exemplify safe work practices.
You will effectively direct and supervise Pepper Construction field team members and subcontractors on the jobsite to bring the project to successful and timely completion. Our Superintendents establish a positive and collaborative working relationship with the members of the project team (Project Managers, Owners, Architects, and Subcontractors).
Major Responsibilities:
Project Management
    • Plan and schedule project, including short interval schedules
    • Schedule manpower and develop a working budget based on the estimates and project schedule.
    • Control job progress by managing subcontractors, solving problems and conflicts, using proper documentation, quality control and safety control techniques on the job.
    • Control project costs by weekly evaluation of labor, material, and equipment costs, adjusting to ensure a fair profit while maximizing customer satisfaction foremost.
    • Demonstrate superior construction process knowledge.
    • Direct and drive Pepper self-perform trades engaged on assigned project

People Management
    • Ensure customer satisfaction by recognizing and meeting the clients' needs.
    • Provide leadership through team building, communications, encouragement, confidence, good judgment, and listening to others.
    • Manage, mentor, and coach other Pepper Construction Supervisors.
    • Take initiative and motivate others.
    • Ensure that all parties understand the importance of safety to your project and educate those that need it.

Business Development
    • Sell your company and yourself to the Client, Architect, and Engineers. Earn their respect.
    • Keep your appearance at a level appropriate to your role and the company's quality reputation. How someone sees you is also how they see our company brand.
    • Sell the company and yourself to building officials and inspectors. Earn their respect.
    • Always acting in a professional manner.

Position Qualifications:
      • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, preferred
      • 15+ years or more experience in a field supervision role in commercial construction
      • 10+ completed projects, run independently
      • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships
