POSITION PROFILE:

We’re looking for a friendly Server that’s enthusiastic about serving tasty food, drinks, and coffee while forging authentic connections with guests at Saint James French Diner.

Palihotel San Diego features Saint James French Diner, a restaurant and bar that blends the utilitarian nature of an American diner with the subtle elegance of French bistro cuisine. Our menu is hearty and simple, yet refined by nature, paying homage to roadside food halls in Southern France. It’s shared mussels and a beer in the afternoon and it’s a burger and two martinis at night. THE TASK AT HAND:

• You’re the friendly face that enhances our guests’ experience by bringing your own flavor to the table.
• Making sure guests are having a fabulous time, from the moment they arrive until it's time to say goodbye.
• Creating a warm, friendly, and laidback atmosphere that turns first-time guests into regulars. Learning our steps of service, products, menu, and systems inside and out.
• Taking orders, running food, making espresso drinks, and serving cocktails and other refreshments from the bar as ordered by guests.
• Working with the team to ensure the restaurant and bar run smoothly with everything in its place.
• We like to keep things tidy and fun for patrons and our staff.
• Restocking, replenishing, and prepping the coffee bar and side work areas as needed.
• Communicating openly with bar and restaurant managers when it comes to customer feedback.
• Collaborating with the hotel staff to ensure overnight guests visit the bar/restaurant and know about all. the great offerings (and promotions!) available exclusively to them.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

• Provide legible communication and directions.
• Compute basic arithmetic.
• Perform job duties with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.
• Prioritize, organize, and follow up.
• Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment.
• Follow directions thoroughly.
• Understand guest’s service needs.
• Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
• Work with minimal supervision.
• Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.
• 1-3 years of experience as a Server in a high-quality full service or fast casual environment.
