About the People Ops Manager Role

We're looking for a People Operations Manager to lead our People function, reporting directly to the COO. This is a hands-on role for an experienced HR generalist who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and owning everything from day-to-day HR operations to higher-impact People initiatives. You'll own the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding, compliance, and benefits administration to employee relations, leaves and accommodations, performance management, manager coaching, and the systems that support our People function. You'll also help champion our culture by leading with our values, fostering an exceptional employee experience, and helping our culture continue to grow and evolve.

The People Ops Manager Will

  • Own the employee experience across the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding through offboarding.
  • Deliver an exceptional onboarding experience, including preboarding, new hire orientation, I-9s, background checks, HR onboarding, and ensuring employees are set up for success with their benefits, HR systems, and key company resources.
  • Own and continuously improve our People operations by building scalable, efficient processes through strong documentation, SOPs, HRIS optimization, automation, AI, reporting, and continuous process improvement.
  • Own HR compliance, including handbook and policy updates, multi-state employment compliance, unemployment claims, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Own benefits administration end to end, serving as the primary point of contact for employees, leading open enrollment, and ensuring employees understand and maximize their benefits.
  • Lead our performance management program, including semiannual performance reviews, calibration, and performance documentation, while also owning employee engagement surveys and partnering with leaders on action planning.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and managers, providing practical, balanced guidance on policies, employee relations, performance, workplace concerns, and manager coaching while exercising sound judgment and balancing employee and business needs.
  • Lead sensitive employee relations matters, including investigations, performance improvement plans, conflict resolution, and terminations, exercising sound judgment to ensure issues are handled fairly, compliantly, and with appropriate involvement of legal counsel when needed.
  • Manage leaves of absence and workplace accommodations, ensuring a supportive employee experience while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Partner with Payroll and Finance to support accurate payroll processing, PTO administration, new hire and final pay, semiannual bonus payouts, benefits deductions, and timely resolution of employee pay-related questions.
  • Champion our culture by reinforcing our values, fostering employee engagement, and helping leaders build high-performing teams.

About You

  • Willingness to work a hybrid schedule in our Austin office Tuesday through Thursday.
  • 4-6 years of progressive HR / People Operations experience, preferably in a startup or high-growth environment supporting in-office, entry-level, customer-facing, and/or high-turnover populations.
  • Strong employee relations experience, including independently leading investigations, performance management, conflict resolution, accommodations, leaves of absence, terminations, and coaching managers through complex employee situations.
  • Strong working knowledge of federal and multi-state employment laws, including ADA, FMLA, wage and hour, EEO, and leave regulations.
  • Experience owning benefits administration, partnering with Payroll, and supporting compensation and payroll processes.
  • Hands-on HRIS experience (Rippling preferred; experience with comparable platforms is also welcomed).
  • Demonstrated ability to build scalable processes, create documentation and SOPs, leverage automation and AI, and continuously improve the way work gets done.
  • Exceptional judgment, discretion, and the ability to build trust while balancing employee experience with business needs.
  • Highly organized, adaptable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities while partnering effectively with Director-level leaders and above.

What We'll Deliver to You

  • The anticipated base salary for this role is $100,000–$120,000. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, education, job-related knowledge, and skills
  • Semiannual bonus opportunity of up to 10% of base salary
  • Company-paid life insurance, short-term disability, and long-term disability coverage
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP), mental health resources, and employee savings programs
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Monthly lunch stipend
  • Annual professional development stipend
